2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The timing doesn’t add up though. If Dorsey was scheduled to inform Hue and Jimmy of his pick last night, why would he let Josh Allen known in the afternoon? You’d think Dorsey would tell Hue and Jimmy before telling the actual player, right?

Mike Silver contends that Hue and ownership would’ve already been in the know and signed off on the pick at that point. But he could also be saying that so Hue doesn’t seem marginalized. Who knows though. There’s so much smoke blowing around that it’s hard to separate the real from it.

Hey guys, take it for what it's worth, but I'm being told the Browns will indeed make at least one pick tonight.

Normally, I’d agree. Silver likes to protect Hue.

To add to that, two things have been claimed:

1) Silver claims that he knows the pick but cannot share as to protect his source.

2) Silver claims that Hue has been in lock-step with the Front Office and they are all on the same page—contrary to reports saying otherwise.

If you were to believe Silver at all, that leads me to the conclusion that Hue:

1) Does know the pick
2) Agrees with it.

How do we know he likes the pick?

Well, we know Hue.

If he didn’t agree, Silver would be tweeting that “this pick is on the FO. Coaches were largely uninvolved.”

That’s the way Hue works.

So, who would Hue agree to without having it leaked that it wasn’t HIS idea?

I’d guess one of Rosen or Darnold given his personal connections and noted tastes.

The Pauline thing seems like an internal leak test. It’s mildly specific and no one else has independently confirmed it and run with it.

We will see

The height really shouldn't matter when you're that good at moving in the pocket and finding the throwing lanes, and Mayfield is excellent.

That and the ball placement already being at an elite level, he literally already plays like Russell wilson.

Keys said he takes unneeded hits, and he does, so he'll need to chill out on trying to run over dudes at the next level and learn how to slide, but everything else screams success at the next level. He likes to manipulate players with his eyes in the intermediate and long range throws. Again, super advanced.

Not worried about his size in the cold. Actually might be more worried about Rosen playing in the cold as a California boy/very stiff. Mayfield is tough as nails and would be fine in the weather it's just can his hands handle the hard ass ball.

@AZ_ @Binkster

Nope.

But come Combine time there will be no arguing with Rosen's measurables. He's as close to the perfect prototype of an NFL QB as you can get with size, arm strength, etc.

I think Mayfield makes better decisions, has better ball placement, can maneuver the pocket better. However, Mayfield also needs whatever offense he's put in to be adapted to his skill set ALA Russell Wilson. Overall I think he's the best QB in the class still, and won't relent on that no matter the combine numbers. He's shown all he needs to show to me on his tape over the last 3 full years, and especially this year.

"He literally already plays like Russell Wilson" isn't a breakdown of tape, it's just a comp.

"Everything screams success at the next level" isn't analysis, it's you using cliche to say you like him.

Saying "He's shown all he needs to show to me on his tape over the last 3 full years, and especially this year" isn't analysis, it's you just saying you like him.

What the fuck is your analysis?

It’s garbage. And there’s a ton of sprinkled bullshit in there that you either made up or are just blind to. “He doesn’t make reads” its “Lincoln Riley” a ton of god damn excuses from you as to WHY a guy played so well.

Couldn’t just be hes really fucking good.

Never address why Rosen forced so much shit and turned it over so much. Since his mechanics are so perfect, how do you even correct this? Seems like a decision making issue to me. You can’t teach decision making.

Calm down, take a deep breath.

Calm down, take a deep breath.

You’re a hypocrite. But you can get all your lackeys on your side.

When all is said and done. Baker will be the best QB of this class. You can bank on that.

While Mayfield is QB3 for me, I can't stand his personality moving to the next level. He has some high level qualities - accuracy, movement, processing - but the scheme transition is a bit worrisome. His film is really boring to watch because everybody is always open and he almost always throws from a clean pocket. However, private meetings are by far the most important part of the process and if the FO fell in love with him I'll support the pick as usual...

Won't actually believe it until he's the pick though. The media has been all over the place this year.
