2018 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Saw Bieber in person yesterday. In fact had an opportunity to call the 5th inning of the game on the radio yesterday with Adam Pohl of the Baysox

Was fun except it was dog day at the park and some of these damn dogs won’t shut the hell up...

Anywho Bieber was damn impressive and obviously nowhere near his best game.. Didn’t realize he was as big of a guy as he is and agree that he has room to put on more size.. Reminds me a lot of those early years Matt Harvey..

Was hoping to see Willi Castro turn it around. He had a hit and made a couple nice plays in the field but for the most part looks lost at the plate...

I'm not nearly as qualified as @AZ_ or @BimboColesHair to make a top prospects, but here are some guys I'm really looking forward to watching this year outside of the obvious McKenzie/Mejia/Valera:

Nolan Jones - I'm really excited to see how he develops. He made big improvements last year, and could be something special once he fills out, and turns some doubles into HRs.

Shane Bieber/Aaron Civale - What can I say? I have a soft spot for guys with ridiculous K:BB ratios.

Will Benson - Freak athlete, really hoping to see some major strides this year. Made a decent jump in the second half of his season last year. Despite how raw he is, still had an .823 OPS last year as a 19 year old at Mahoning Valley.

Conner Capel - 51 XBH in his age 20 season at A ball

Andrew Calica - Really good hitter, but not a lick of power right now. If he develops any, he could be a player.

Eli Morgan - A 2017 8th round draft pick out of Gonzaga had 58 K's in 35 innings at Mahoning Valley last year. He has a really good changeup, and is pretty small in stature, might end up being a reliever.

Nolan Jones - brief DL stint, .189/.333/.378 in 11 games. Excellent patience, power is developing. Think he's in for a big year.

Shane Bieber - He's been discussed at length, but he's exceeding even the loftiest expectations so far this year.

Aaron Civale - Same mold as Bieber as a low walk guy, although not quite to the same extent. Still, he's at 20:4 K:BB so far this year with a sub-3.00 ERA at Akron.

Will Benson - .218/.394/.473 so far this year. K's are still high, but down quite a bit. His walks are way up, and he already has 4 HRs.

Conner Capel - .324/.395/.465 through 19 games to go along with 8 steals. Only 1 HR so far, but had 22 last year.

Andrew Calica - Struggling to hit along with everyone else in that Akron lineup.

Eli Morgan - 27 K's and only 5 BB's in 20.2 IP with a 1.74 ERA so far at Lake County.

Another guy I'd like to add in is Sam Hentges. The big lefty is finally healthy and tearing it up at Lynchburg so far with 22 K's in 19.2 IP and a 2.29 ERA.

My guess would be Plutko coming u Thursday. Started Saturday night and retired all 23 guys he faced. For some reason, he was yanked with a perfect game going with 2 outs in the 8th. His pitch count was only at 95.

He has been really good except for one outing this season.

Was rooting for Bieber to get the call, but Plutko is on the roster and deserving.

Bieber is not the only dealing in Akron, Chiang Chang and Civale have been just a impressive. Need to release Tomlin.

Morimando went to the DL and Bieber got called up to the Clippers
Oh hell yeah! I'm gonna have to go see him play.

Any idea when his first start here will be?

Is The beebs legit?

Is The beebs legit?

Yeah, he's going to be a starter in this league. Just a matter of when, and how good he can eventually become.

I think at worst he's an average MOR guy, with the potential to be a really good #2 with control and command.

Bieber with another great start in Columbus.

I also like the Neil Ramirez call up. He had 31 K's to 3 BB in 17.2 IP in Columbus. Hopefully he can stick in the pen.

He's up.

1.1 scoreless after everyone else shit the bed last night.

Was the corresponding move for Zimmer to the DL.

I think he knew that. Unless I’m reading your post wrong

I haven’t been paying attention to the minors as closely past couple of years. Where did Neil come from?

Nope, I definitely read it wrong.

Ramirez has knocked around the league a bit, but when he isn't walking guys he's been pretty good.
