2018 MLB Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Knocked the 1st 2 picks out of the park IMO.

Take out the health factor and Hankins was far and away my favorite prep arm in this class. Very few people on the planet who can throw that hard with that kind of movement when he is right. Needs mechanical refinement, but he went to the right organization to get just that.

And Naylor is the most pro ready prep bat they've taken in a while. Position doesn't matter much to me at this point, cause his bat should carry him.

Very, very happy with those 2 picks.

I will say this: if they sign Hankins, then they crushed that pick. He would immediately be the best pitching prospect in the system.

Naylor, I admittedly dont know much about but I like what I hear. They need more natural hitters in their system.

Interested with Torres Jr that they took. Sounds like he is a top end bullpen arm, but he may not have the control.

No he wouldn’t, but still a fine pick

Whoa. Nick Sandlin?

He could be the first player from the 2018 draft to make it to the bigs. Middle reliever all the way but his numbers were absurd this year; 1.06 ERA, 102.1 INN and 144 K.

Very funky delivery and arm slot. Up to 94 with the FB and his slider supposedly dances. Everybody raves about the character. He'll move quickly....

Honestly, not out of the realm of possibility to see him in Cleveland at some point given how utterly awful the bullpen currently is.

You hope it doesn’t come to that but...I mean, you never know though.

Agreed. Certainly not out of the realm of possibility, a la Brandon Finnegan with KC back in 2014, but wouldn't be ideal since he's already thrown 100+ innings this year. His stuff looks pretty nasty....

I forget, what’s the cut off date to get picks signed? Isn’t it within the next couple months? Looks like a wasted pick

He can still sign, then delay his baseball career while completing his eligibility at Oklahoma.

Not entirely sure how the money works now, but the pick is slotted at almost $5 million.

Impossible for him to pass up that opportunity.

How does that work? I feel like that would be a NCAA violation since they’re petty like that.

Its not. You can't be a pro in the sport you are competing in. Brandon Weeden played pro baseball then went back and played NCAA football. Drew Henson was in the Yankees minor league system while he was hampering the career of Tom Brady at Michigan.

The issue for the As is do you hand 5 million to a guy who could suffer a major injury playing college football? I can't imagine they took him without planning to let him play, so apparently it is a risk they were prepared to take. Or maybe they just say 'f it', don't sign him and take a comp pick next year.
