2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel if we wanted Berry, he would've already been signed. .

Or at the bare minumum, Dorsey would have opened communications with his agent to start getting medical information, etc..

But when Dorsey said publicly that there were all these "if's" that would have to be satisfied before he'd even talk to the agent...it was very clear he had zero interest.

We have 69 players signed, so 16 are gone, Pittsburg is 2nd to us and they just lost 2 stars.

In the end, we will cut atleast 20 players doesn't include any draft picks yet, plus we have 2 more years until a new CBA.

This is not a complete roster yet, and we have so much rollover cap room we have 2 years to use it or lose it. Some of our signings wont work out, some of our current players wont make it, let the camp battle for positions, draft, rest of free agency play out and see what our final 53 looks like. The practice squad is a set number, so that doesn't matter.

We also have 18 million in dead cap, the 7th highest counting in that 200 mill number. The big thing is continuing to build through the draft. We made allot of splashes, but I am guessing a few players get cut before the season we might not see coming like a Hubbard or Kirksey.

Further even if we have the biggest cap hit for 2019 and 2020 it doesn't matter, 2021 is either new cba or uncapped.

Also when you switch for payroll, its 175 million, 7th highest, not first and we are going to cut some of that.

Football cap is so weird, we are using the rollover, we have 35 million still, some will be saved, but last year is use it or lose it and obviously the one good thing about Haslam is he don't give a fuck about money if it helps build a contender.

I'm sorry--this isn't a Haslam thing at all. Every NFL owner spends roughly the same amount--the cap. If you're under, you roll it over, and you spend it another year.

The NFL's CBA doesn't allow an owner to go all Dan Gilbert and outspend other teams.

More than half.

Manning-Barkley.
Prescott-Elliott.
Rodgers-Anyone.
Cousins-Cook.
Trubisky-Cohen.
Newton-McCaffrey.
Ryan-Freeman.
Brees-Kamara.
Goff-Gurley.
Wilson-RB De Jour.
Jimmy G-Coleman/Breida.
???-David Johnson.
Brady-Michel.
Darnold-Bell.
FitzMagic-Drake.
Mayfield-Chubb/Hunt.
Rapist-Conner.
Dalton-Mixon.
Foles-Fournette.
Watson-Miller.
Mariota-Henry.
Mahomes-Williams.
Flacco-Lindsey.
Carr-Beast Mode.
Rivers-Gordon.

Name a better QB-RB duo? Is this a joke? Who is manning the twitter feed for the nfl?

Once teams start defending them the way the Chargers did in the playoffs it's over. Fans are going to wish they had Flacco after a couple games.

In no particular order, these are the QBs I'd rather have start for my team in 2019 over Lamar Jackson

Fitzpatrick
Brady
Darnold
Dalton
Mayfield
Roethlisberger
Watson
Luck
Foles
Mariota
Mahomes
Rivers
Carr
Prescott
Manning
Wentz
Trubisky
Stafford
Rodgers
Cousins
Ryan
Newton
Brees
Winston
Goff
Garoppolo
Wilson

I'd take 27 QBs ahead of Jackson. Basically the only guys I'd take Jackson over for 2019 are Josh Allen who I'm on the fence about in this scenario, Joe Flacco, Case Keenum, and Josh Rosen.

For RBs it's a little better. These are the guys I'd take over Ingram
Sony Michel
Le'Veon Bell
Mixon
Chubb
Conner
Fournette
Henry
Phillip Lindsay
Gordon
Elliott
Barkley
Jordan Howard
Dalvin Cook
McCaffrey
Kamara
David Johnson
Gurley
Carson

I'd take 18 starting RBs over Ingram.

So combined Jackson is 28/32 and Ingram is 19/32 in my estimation. There are obviously better QB/RB combos in the league and it's not even close.

I'd add Aaron Jones, Marlon Mack, Kareem Hunt, and Kerryon Johnson over Ingram
