2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Talent talent talent talent talent talent talent talent.

Saquon has talent. Chubb has less talent.

WGAF? This is NFL Football, not fucking America's Got Talent. The HoF had dozens of players who were short on "talent" but offset that with other qualities.

We've also seen talented players fail.

Brian Sipe was MVP one year. He beat out Mike Phipps. Who had more "talent"?

Anyone who adopts a supercilious, condescending and patronizing attitude towards Browns fans on a Cleveland fan website should have a more thoroughly supported argument than monomaniacally relying on a one-dimension "talent" metric to the exclusion of other critical factors.

BTW Chubb's 5.2 YPC matches Jim Brown's career figure. Just saying.

Lol, c’mon man, really? Let’s take the first 6 weeks of the year. After doing minimal research, it’s clear Chubb was given 16 carries. Never more than 3 in any game. And over those 16 carries, he rushed for 173 yards and 2 TDs. That’s 10.8 yards per carry.

And before you go saying that number is cute or meaningless, take a look at Carlos Hyde’s 114 carries for 382 yards over the same 6 weeks (3.35 YPC).

But you’re right, the only difference between them was the numbers they wore. Keep levitating above the rest of us and our shit takes.

For sure its a shit take on Chubb, but I think he could be right on Hunt. Both Damion Williams and Spencer Ware had slightly better numbers when Hunt was cut after the 11th game.

We will see if Hunt is really that good, or product of system. For sure Chubb is that good, he was by fare the best runner for us and was significantly better than Hyde.

There's a sample size issue with both guys, though, as Williams only had 85 carries and Ware only had 51. We've got a season and a half and 450 carries of production from Hunt.

I do think that any RB is going to produce in that system, as it's a dynamic offense with quality receivers and the best TE in the game. However, one of the things that makes Hunt good is his ability to break and evade tackles. He did it in college and he showed he was able to do it in the NFL. He's also great in the receiving game. He averaged 14.5 YPR this year before the suspension. Williams' average was just barely half of that at 7.6. Hunt's not gonna do that every year, but he's still a great receiving back.

I also think it's fair to say that just about any RB is going to produce in the Browns' system this year, but we're lucky to have two backs who could be listed in the NFL's top ten.

I’d take Kamara over Barkley and Chubb. I’d probably take Barkley over Chubb as well. But that’s like saying I’d take 3 SBs over 2 and over 1. I’d love to just have 1, same goes for those backs and we are fortunate to have one, Chubb.

There's probably about six RBs I'd take right now over Chubb.

Gurley (assuming health)
Kamara
Barkley
Zeke
McCaffrey
DJ

I'd list Bell too but I need to see what he looks like after a year off. Gordon was a tough call as well. Could go either way with him. I give Chubb the edge though due to being three years younger and with a lot less mileage.

At any rate, if you're top ten at your position, you are elite.

Whose DJ?

Until Baker hurdles a defender I can't give it to him.

So yeah, after this coming season he's probably got it.

Heresy!

Baker felt an Emu with his face!

Let’s see Alvin Karmasutra do that!

Hunt's a better back than either Spencer Ware or Damien Williams. Watch him--to me he looks like someone who has just a little bit of "pop." He's nothing special in terms of speed, acceleration, or change of direction (I really watch for people who can cut on one step "stop foot, go foot" kinda cuts. Le'Veon Bell and Joe Mixon are great studies of this). But, Kareem Hunt has some special balance. Defenders kinda glance off him and he stays on his feet--that's his talent and brings him out of the 20-30 ranked RB's and into the 10-20 range for me.

I think Damien Williams has some speed and acceleration to him that Spencer Ware doesn't--so I'd assume he's the back to watch in KC this year.

They call him Alvin Karmasutra because he fucks.

No, they call him that becaus his catchphrase in college was:

“Hurry up! I’m upside down here and my leg is going numb!”
