2019 Browns Off Season/Roster Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Isn't OBJ under contract? If he is recruiting at dinner a player under contract, then it's no different than LBJ recruiting Anthony Davis to demand a trade to the Lakers.

So?

Theres rumors that Von Miller is on the trading block.

Players recruit each other all the time, and players can't collude with each other. The reason people are criticizing LeBron is because he's using his agent to force a client on another team to LeBron's team to bail him out. That's collusion. LeBron texting Davis and saying, "Dude, I'd love to play with you" is not.

The Dolphins - who at 7-9 last season weren't completely talentless - are cutting Tannehill and not replacing him with a starting level QB. It's a tank, baby.

I'd take a flier on Robert Quinn if they are liquidating talent.

Robert Quinn stinks. Hard pass.

BTW, I'd put money on Andy Dalton and Ryan Tannehill changing places.

I wouldn't want to pay him 9.7 million a year, but he is 29 and still a solid starting defensive end in the NFL. The former Dolphin I really prefer is Ju'wuan James, but he is a UFA. It's nice being a buyer not a seller in the offseason.

I'd throw a pick or two in 2020 at the Fins for Stills, Iwould love to have a deep threat like him to pair up with Baker.

If the Colts make the right moves, they can be scary good next year with all the young talent they have.

Browns too. 16 teams were worse than use, yet none have more cap space. That is a much more amazing stat than having the most cap space last year.

So interesting nugget I saw about the Colts: they had the easiest schedule by DVOA not just this year, but by any team in the last 3 years. On their winning streak to end the year, the only above average QB they played was Watson (twice). If they weren't so young/have a ton of cap, I'd put them as a regression candidate.

I'm not sure I follow along with others when it comes to Greg Robinson... He was an average-below average player in large part of the year... He did help stabilize the LT to an extent, not getting beat as quick as Harrison, but the product of the tackles and offensive line playing better was more so playcalling and Baker getting the ball out quick then the tackles truly playing better..

Sure, if the Browns can bring him back on a team friendly deal to compete for the LT job and, if not, be a swing tackle then I'd be all for it..

Otherwise, LT along with DT are two of the biggest Browns needs moving forward..

Unfortunately, there's not a lot of good offensive tackles walking around out there but it does look to be a pretty good tackle draft...

I think Corbett was always more of a developmental project. I could see him coming into play when its time to cut one of the older guys. His playtime this year will be the key. Everything else (maybe minus Thomas) I am ok with.

Also, just because I want to put two and two together:

Cant embed IG for some reason, but its Baker having dinner with OBJ & Von Miller. Two guys that have been rumored to be traded the last few months.

We used a high second rounder on a developmental project? That’s a spot where you take a guy who can play right away.

Going into the last draft I thought Corbett would make a great early third round pick. There are two key factors in Corbett being drafted high and then not really getting the playing time many expected:

1. 2018 was a bad draft for offensive line, and really the past three drafts or so haven't produced a lot of quality starting linemen. Corbett looked like a player with position flexibility who is undersized for tackle but able to handle all the interior positions. The Browns carried very few backup offensive linemen compared to other seasons because of his versatility.

2. The Browns interior line play was outstanding in 2018 and stayed healthy all year. I don't think the front office plans to keep Tretter long term. I think Corbett will eventually outplay Tretter, or he may be forced onto the field because a guard is injured.
