2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a lot of positive thoughts on the game, so don't think I'm being negative nancy here...

But I can tell I'm going to be very frustrated at Zizic's lack of playing time this season. I can't figure out how Lue doesn't see what we see? Yes, we have a "log jam" up front so to speak, but Zizic is our best TRUE big to throw at the Valanciunas's/Gortat's/Baynes of the world. Not to mention has an improved offensive game.

Yeah, it's only one preseason game. But you can already feel the vibe that Zizic is buried deep down in the depth chart. I feel for the kid.

My hope is Lue is just trying to figure out the base offense then will build from that. It looks like he wants to play with pace which I think is a very good idea especially with the new 12 second shot clock reset rule.

Zizic conditioning has been a problem before, added the faster pace and it could be one of the main issues with him right now.

Hopefully we will see alot more swapping in and out of players. One advantage is we have alot of depth and if Lue can manage rotating guys in every 5 minutes or so, it should help us keep a very high pace.

Korver might be the player I'm most concern about transitioning in this offense. He wasn't able to do anything last night. He didn't have room to shoot. He couldn't dribble or make quick decisions when he got the ball. He even fumbled the ball out of bounds when Sexton throw him a quick pass.

Without the gravity of all-star players, will Korver ever have the room to shoot?

Korver had no problems getting open in Atlanta. They ran some very good sets for him to get him open. Though, switching nowadays is more prevalent so it might be harder. However, you can work around it; you just need to be creative and put a lot of emphasize on quality of screens and understanding mismatches.

Think we could have a three headed monster at center with nance tt and zizic. Three different games to throw at opponents

I also don't think it's a lock that Nance plays all his minutes at center. I think Dekker got the backup PF minutes last night because it makes sense for the organization to figure out where and if he fits into the team earlier. He is eligible to be traded right now and could be added as filler to a Korver, TT, Hill, and/or JR trade.

Nance could be splitting time at PF and center which would open up minutes for Zizic.

I loved how the Cavs were moving the ball, everyone was touching the ball. I didn't think Sexton had that quick of a first step, but he was getting by the Boston D with little resistance until he got to the paint.

Cedi bringing the ball up was a welcome sight, as well as his PnR play.

Hopefully we see it as the season goes on, but dribble handoffs involving Love would do wonders for our shooters, as well as getting Love easier looks based off what the defense does.

"Cleveland might not be that terrible. It's hard to recover from LeBron leaving, obviously, but the Cavs are in a much stronger position this time around than in 2010. There's some belief Kevin Love can reactivate his top-level form and some of those thought-to-be good role players who didn't produce that well playing with LeBron could provide decent depth. They aren't the team to beat, as Tristan Thompson so outrageously claimed, but maybe the playoffs aren't such a long shot."

I agree. This team has good depth. No true superstar but a all star caliber in love and a bunch of pretty good rotational players. One from Cedi or Sexton needs to reach all star type level by next year. And we must get some good young assets for hill. Korver and JR

just some random bottom of the roster thoughts:

I'd like to see Simmons take the final roster spot from Taylor. I see some upside from Kobi, still real young, former 5 star recruit., looks very athletic and a decent shooter with room to improve, decent option as a future combo guard.

No reason at all to have Holland on the 2-way contract, I'm hoping to see a bit of Colson in pre-season to see if he is worthy.

Old guys always look old, bad, not interested during preseason. Because...they are old.

Move on. We have this discussion every year.

Whether or not he still has anything left in the tank will not be known at this point in the process.

I don't know anything about simmons, but yearh he looks better than Taylor to me too.

Definitely want Colson on that 2 way. Don't care about Holland. We were thin at that position before the deadline trade, trade and now we are thick. Get him outta here and sign Colson.

Kobi Simmons interests me because he is 6'5 and he could be a nice addition if Lue wants to play positionless basketball and a switching defense. He has shown in his time in Memphis that he has NBA talent, Id take the chance on his unique size especially as a 3rd PG. The Isaiah Taylor types are always floating around in the G-league so I'd rather see what Simmons has for half a season before settling.

I agree we should use the second two way on Colson. I just don't see whatever the organization sees in Holland. He is just too old to be a developmental player at this point.

He is a valid injury replacement on a Lebron James team because he can hit a wide open shot on a good percentage. He is a fringe NBA talent. Tough that is basically Love's age. No more need for him.

Colson has impressed in camp supposedly. So my guess is they don't just let him walk
