2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Gotcha, the fastball velocity scares me a bit as a starter, though lefties I know don't have to throw as hard, but players are getting more and more adjusted to the mid 90s it feels like which makes the low 90s not as effective without good off speed pitches/good deception in his motions and release points. Probably why I saw a fair amount of middle reliever more than starter potential from when I went and did some digging earlier.

Low 90's from a lefty who changes his release points can be incredibly effective. Also, I admittedly have no idea where his velocity currently sits.

This is the Baseball America write-up from last year's draft:

He's really flown through the system so far, showing swing and miss stuff along with good control numbers (which was a problem prior to his senior year at Wofford)
So is this guy going to be the next starting pitcher to come out of no where?

You would think with all the information gathering ability in today's world, you would think it would be a little easier to get more information on guys than it feels like. I mean outside of the big baseball college players/high draft picks, there isn't a ton of information on a lot of guys online anywhere. Though I am liking how in the last few seasons the Indians have been finding decent 4th round guys overall.
17-Scott, 16-Clement, 15-Bieber 14-Hentges 13-Crockett

If injuries like we had this year happen next season, it actually is a possibility he would come out of nowhere and get some starts. He is one of the guys on the sleeper/under the radar list in our farm system. Either way its a good probability we see him sometime next summer in an Indians uniform, though as a starter or reliever will be hard to know right now (He will get to the pros faster as a reliever, but if he has the ability to be a starter, they will want to leave him there).

Pitching names that you will likely see sometime in the pros in the next two season from our farm system, Karinchak, Sandlin, Broom, Nelson, Morgan, Civale, Scott, Hentges...

Just hope his moxie is where it needs to be..

He really doesn't have allot of moxie, but he does have allot of grit and determination. Hopefully those two attributes being high can equal allot of moxie.

Any reason the pitchers all came up super fast?

Benson and Jones are younger as they were high school draftees. Bieber, Plesac, and Civale are older and were drafted out of college.

To add to what Hockeyjohn said, Bieber, Plesac and Civale were all high command guys in College as well, so they were all polished pitchers, so higher floors, but had more question marks on how good their potential was and how well their stuff would translate to the pros. Plesac had tommy john his senior year of college, which puts a top 120ish prospect down to something like a 10th round plus prospect. The Indians have been targeting guys like this lately in the draft in those could say in those 4-10ish area rounds. I mean by sometime next summer we should see the 8th (Morgan), 9th (Karinchak) and 15th (Nelson) all in the tribe uniform at some time from the 2017 draft and the 2nd round (Sandlin), 4th Round (Scott) and 10th round (Broom) from the 18 draft. Now almost all of them outside of Morgan and maybe Scott, will be bullpen arms, but just getting that much talent that quickly to the pros like that is a testament to good drafting and development. They have their targets well picked out and focus on certain types of guys.

18 of their 40 man roster were home grown, then another 16 were acquired when they had less than 1 yearish or less of MLB experience and we have 43 on the 40 man roster, so 34 of the 43 guys we have were acquired through the draft, in the minor league still and/or very little MLB experience. That is how you build small franchises at the end of the day!
