2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The NBA is an absolute BITCH to win when you're not a team named the Boston Celtics or the Los Angeles Lakers.

I don't know...I just figure it's fun to keep an eye on this team at the moment. But we're not going anywhere anytime soon.

The other two franchises? Have a shot if they get in position for it. But yeah.

What would the Knicks have to give to trade up to #1?

We didn't get #1. OK, fine.
But the Lakers getting #4 is pure bullshit. With Pelicans getting #1, that's a pretty blatant rig to get Anthony Davis on the Lakers.

I think the Hawks are going to be a sleeper team for AD after this lottery.

They can offer 2 top 10 picks this year as well as a first for each of the following two years.

They also have the cap room, $75mil iirc, to eat a bad contract like Solomon Hill or take on both AD and Holiday without sending $ back. They also have the expiring contracts of Bazemore / Plumlee if it's money they can't eat. Combine that with younger players like Prince or Hueter and I think they are a sleeper for AD.

I don't get why is everyone so upset. The most probable outcome has actually happened. We had over 50% chance of being out of top 3, and it happened. There is no rig, just accept that the fact that you have more chances than someone else at winning something doesn't mean it will happen. And the chances weren't even that greater, so i don't really get the surprise.

It sucks because we didn't get a chance at the top 3 prospects, but i actually like this format (maybe make it 3 selections again instead of 4, though).

Even better.

Ladies and Gents, the person ESPN is paying the big bucks too.

This format did exactly what it set out to do. Punish tanking teams and make the lotto more unpredictable.

And it’s kinda good it screwed a shitty team in year 1 because now we don’t have to sit and wait to get the first shitty lotto and GMs don’t have an excuse to tank anyway. Now it’s common knowledge that this new format is gonna hurt tanking teams. GMs will put better products on the court out of fear of this happening to them. If you look at the Cavs and Suns we basically WASTED a year tanking. It’s gonna be hard to sell a tank to your fans now if it’s possible you don’t get a top 3 pick

So teams are going to pay bloated contracts to mediocre players so they can finish 8th worst instead of 2nd worst?

And then when they get lucky in the draft they have no financial ability to build around that player because they have long term deals for shit players who don't fit the new system?

Nawh. This format just extends tanks. Further separates the haves and have not.

Since following the league I’ve learned one thing. No matter what happens people will claim the lottery is rigged. Call your shots before the lottery at least. Zion and Ja ending up in depressing markets is hardly a win for Silver anyway lol. Move Pelicans to Seattle and Grizzlies back to Vancouver at least and rebrand those two organizations.

Silver wanted to disincentivize tanking by flattening the odds and I’m not sure this is it to be honest. Fringe playoff talented teams calling it quits in January or February getting top 4 pick will HURT the legitimately talent deprived teams.

Hunter and Culver are solid players but if I’m the Cavs I’m taking a swing at Cam, Sekou and Bol Bol . I’ve never watched Jaxon Hayes but his %’s around the rim is insane and is a shot blocker. Having a PG and a defensive C for the future locked up sounds intriguing as well.

The one silver lining to all this is hiring Beilein who is familiar with all of these player and has scouted against them in college and looked to be in good spirits after the lottery unlike us LMAO. Maybe he has a guy or two in mind already.

Beilein will be a big help in the draft. Plus after last year i trust koby
Would be nice to move jr and tt pre draft for more picks.
If not i see a firesale at next years deadline. Jr. tt. Clarkson. Delly all for picks or young players

If we could swing Hachimura at #8 while trading down with the Hawks so we get #10 too, I'd be real happy. Hachimura and someone like Cam Reddish could really grow into something with Beilein as our coach.
I doubt Atlanta would do it but maybe they give us the pick we owe them. Hachimura and Reddish would be outstanding though. If not, I still would draft Hachimura at 5.

Also the Japan media and fans will go crazy. There will be so much Cleveland merchandise to Japan. Japan loves its players. Plus it will be a huge impact for basketball to Japan.
