2022 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the Browns come out of the second round with either Travis Jones, Logan Hall, or a defensive end that legitimately fell... It's a great start. This is an edge draft.

Take advantage of the strength of the class. Cornerback was the strength of the class in 2021, OT the strength of 2020.

I mean Travis Jones is pretty clearly not an edge, so not sure how he would apply to what you said.

Are we not discussing who we would prefer the Browns to pick on Friday?

I'd like to see the great edge class push Jones down, but plenty of sites believe he is trending up and out of the Browns range.

I doubt they take someone that old

I’m casually wondering if the guidelines will change due to COVID years, with this being the first that really sort of shows the age increase. Feels like a generally older class.

You want the Browns to take advantage of a bunch of DE's being drafted early, which makes plenty of sense, by having other guys at other positions like Jones be available in Round 2. Totally understand that thought process.

But I think where the confusion lies for me is when you followed up citing Jones as a guy you'd like in Round 2 with Hall who most seem to think will play DE at the next level and "a defensive end that legitimately fell".

So you want this strong edge class to push... two DEs down to 44?

Logan Hall is a player I'm very high on because he is a lot like Malik Jackson used to be before the glue factory. Tony Pauline sums up why I'd see Hall as a fit for the Browns, so I'll just plug in his analysis:

In one sentence, I want defensive line talent to fall to the Browns because second round edge talent this year could have been first round talent in other recent drafts.

Is Hall an edge? Is he a five tech? Is he a three tech? The answer is "yes to all three". If you like the Browns moving Clowney and Garrett around to create unpredictability and mismatches, you should like Hall's skill set. The logic of signing Malik was sound, he was just too old to be impactful.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Georgia WR George Pickens could "go deep into Day 2."

Fowler believes that Pickens has a chance to go in the first round, noting that several NFL executives believe Pickens is a top-5 talent in the class. The Packers, Chiefs, and Cardinals "are among teams that have done lots of homework on him." However, Pickens 2021 ACL tear and off the field issues have some teams concerned. Pickens notably fought with a Georgia Tech player, picking up a half-game suspension; it's also possible his team interviews haven't gone perfectly. Pickens remains unlikely to fall to Round 3, but he could go later in Round 2 than expected.

In Arizona, lot of rumblings that if a WR they like or Green/Johnson go before 23, and they’re taking Logan Hall.

At 23.

It's the Wednesday before the NFL first round, and 50 players are expecting to be selected tomorrow.

Very thorough RB breakdown. Our visits indicate we might have interest on Day 3

RB8 – Julius Chestnut, Sacred Heart

Julius Chestnut played against a low level of competition at Sacred Heart, but he did about all we could ask for from a player in that situation. He was more efficient on the ground than all the notable small school guys that come to mind (Austin Ekeler, Danny Woodhead, James Robinson, etc.), he posted 45.8-percent and 60.1-percent Dominator Ratings in back-to-back seasons, and he was uber efficient on limited work as a receiver. I’ve seen reported 40-yard dash times of 4.47 and 4.62. But at 5-11 and 228-pounds, anything in that range would be just fine for an NFL back.

Oh, sure.

It was just the highest I’ve ever seen his name, and so late in the game, from a reputable Cardinals beat guy…

Wild. Logan Hall being a first round pick when a month ago we thought he’d be a lock to be there in the second.

Built like a chestnut.

Day three is the time to take shots on small school guys with athletic upside, so I could definitely see us taking a RB somewhere there. Hunt probably won’t be with the team after this year, and given our lack of firsts, we probably won’t be in a position where we can comfortably take a day two RB until 2025.

Here are the incidents I can find on Pickens

2019 vs. George Tech. Suspended for first half for violation of team rules. Undisclosed reason.
2019 vs. Georgia Tech. Same game, ejected and suspended for first half of SEC Championship game for fighting a GT player
2020 vs. Tennessee. Picked up an unsportsmanlike penalty for spraying a Tennessee player with a water bottle after the player was tackled into the Georgia sideline

Obviously fighting another player isn't great and I'm not excusing it, but it also happened during his freshman year.

If we're still hearing this character concerns now in early 2022 it leads me to believe he did not impress during his interviews and didn't do much maturing in his 3 years at Georgia.
