2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As I've said on more than one occasion... the word on Cody Morris, this time.. is that there are results.. He started an ACL game, pitched one inning.. two K's.. seven pitches..

Most important..there are results..

He has too good of stuff to really be fair to face for ACL hitters...

That's the question mark right now... We have more OFs than we have spots for on the 40 man... which ones do we keep and which ones do we move?

We lack right handed hitting OFs, we only have Straw, Call and OGonz in the organization really. We have guys like Reyes, Miller/Clement, Noel that can/Have played out there, but I am not sure I would call them OFs...

Otherwise we have Kwan, Valera, Brennan, Benson, Jones, Palacios... Kwan, Brennan, and Palacios are contact based guys, Benson and Jones are 3 outcome styles while. Valera is supposed to an All-star type...

We cannot keep all of these guys... someone has to go...

Sincerely, we have to figure out of the 9 listed OFs, which ones we are keeping and which ones we are trading/moving...
Im taking Benson over Palacios and Brennan. They are too redundant with Kwan with all three being safe contact guys.

... baby steps, man.. baby steps...

Oh trust me I know, I am waiting til the Columbus/Akron rehab before I ask how he is doing lol

Benson is still a high bust as an everyday player, while Palacios and Brennan aren't, but they don't have the ceiling...

I think we should trade Palacios personally...

I don't see Bieber moved until after the 23 season...

Cleveland will look to extend Bieber next off season, if it doesn't plan out, we don't have to add any of those names for awhile, so Cleveland will keep Bieber one more season for the playoff run.

Plesac will likely be the one moved this off season, while Bieber if not extended next off season. Civale, I am not sure how he fits in... TMac, is an extension candidate...
I’ll be surprised if Bieber is a Guarsian at the start of the 23 season, but anything is possible I guess.

The pressure is going to be too much. Hardcore fans want Will Benson. It's just the way it is.

Some of us believe in the light going on for some slow developing prospects who make the adjustments the hitting instructors taught a guy like Benson. The long arms and long swing will always be an issue for Benson. Nobody denying this but the progress he made this year is remarkable. You can toss out the Bobby Bradley and Joey Gallo comparisons.

I was waiting for you to tell me, bub.

4 year collegiate player explains his situation in LC. Seems like a much better pitcher in minors than college (where he was in relief), maybe he's filling out, figuring things out. They should move him to AA soon to speed up the process. Where he spends his 24 year old season in AA/AAA. FB reaches 97mph, relies on a slider, working on the change up to mix it between. He might be a player to be high on.
Thanks but I want my prospect evaluation from @AndrewScheid.

If you move on from Amed and Franmil, it means we will be adding to the prospect overload....not alleviating it.

It also means that we are losing two RH bats for a lineup that can't hit left hand pitching well.

In Ameds case, it means we are likely to be weakening the lineup.

These are the production levels over the last two years of our three realistic candidates to partner with Gimenez next year.

923 PAs...283/322/404/725...22 SB...18.3 K rate.

639 PAs...264/316/385/701...10 SB....25.4 K rate.

463 PAs...246/354/383/737...8 SV...10.9 K rate.

The first is Amed, playing in MLB.

The second is Arias, playing in AAA, rookie ball, and MLB.

The third is Freeman, playing in AA and AAA.

Now, some fans do not feel that Amed is a good player, by whatever definition they choose to use...and thats OK. But if Amed isn't good, than by the same definition, what do they call two youngsters who have done worse against much lesser competition?
Let it go.

Is Benson’s comp/ceiling Buxton? That could require extreme patience.

Benson was drafted with the full understanding that he was an athlete trying to and shooting to play baseball at the highest level.. Byron Buxton was no such prospect.. but, as a comp.. Benson could do worse... There are some significan't differences:

Benson is and has always been healthy...
Benson has and has always had a hose..
Benson profiles more as a classic RF'er...

Benson, upon being drafted, was thought to be a long term prospect.. the full five plus years of development were going to be needed to bring him from draftee to bona fide ML prospect.. With the pandemic year(s).. it's taken all that and a little more.. I'll suggest Benson was hurt much more than most of the upper tier prospects in the Guardians system by the shut down of minor league baseball.. but, that's an appraisal long on emotion and short on tangible measurables..
