Burrow definitely was. He could barely move in week 1 on that bad calf.

The 49ers game was a good performance, but it’s worth noting that Trent Williams, Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffery all got injured during the game too.
The only healthy, above average quarterbacks this defense beat was Lamar, who scored 31, and took Deshaun going nuclear in the second half and a game winning field goal to beat…

And Purdy, in a constant rain, who lost their three best players as you said, and took a missed Niners field goal to win. And even then, the most important defensive drive of the game Purdy walked them down the field on said defense for that field goal try.

They just didn’t play well against quality, healthy quarterbacks.

Purdy was fine but he was ass against us, he just missed throws

He lost his two best offensive players. I don't think we win that game if McCaffrey doesn't go down.

Their entire offense really revolves around him.

McCaffrey's last play of that game was with less than 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter (Browns leading 13-10) where Trent Williams got called for a holding penalty and the 49ers had a false start on the next play backing them up to their own 10 yard line.

So after the opening drive TD the Browns held the 49ers, with McCaffrey, to 3 points over their next 7 possessions.

Everyone loves to put an asterisk on that game as if the Browns weren't playing with PJ f'ing Walker

Every opponent that beat the Browns this season gets an asterisk too.

Hell, might as well give Houston an asterisk for their playoff win.

No Chubb or Watson. Myles was injured. Flacco was confused and playing from behind.

things I noticed live:

1. Nico collins is the real deal
2. our LBs played good
3. our CBs looked overrated
4. our safeties made a lot of bad decisions
5. Texans pass rush/blitzs looked a lot better than ours
6. Cooper didn't look healthy
7. every pass we threw should of been to a TE
8. we lack speed on offense. the difference btw the teams in terms of speed at WR and RB was very easily seen.
9. I just don't think Garrett has been right since the shoulder
10. losing 3 OT and Bitonio not being healthy didn't help

Deebo also went out in the 1st quarter which is a significant loss.

Perhaps just coincidence, but the 49ers are 46-20 in games Deebo plays and just 8-9 in games he doesn’t play for his career.

Sure, but don't think it's a big enough loss to bring an offense that still has CMC, Kittle, and Aiyuk to it's knees

Houston has built their WR corp to all have speed. I think our front office should try to find an attribute that they can identify and succeed in building a WR corp around. Defenses are basically built to cover the variety platter of WRs, if you overwhelm them with a particular type of receiver they usually can't matchup.

Speed is something that this front office can't seem to find with starting level players. I would love them to find more shifty players and maybe build for size. Get 3 playable TEs and multiple big WRs might be doable to making an receiver corp that is hard for defenses to match up with.

I know the playoff game put a little dark cloud on the end of the season, but I'm still happy with how the season went. They exceeded my expectations and after this little period of time passes, I'll be super excited to see how we approach this offseason.

This is where I have an issue with the doom and gloom or regression talk. Had this season been our team with Watson, Chubb, a healthy line, etc., I'd be worried. Signs would be there like from 2007, or 2018. But this team was held together by scotch tape.

The Browns are primed for regression in the respect that they are playing a tougher schedule (2nd place instead of last place), they had a great record in close games, which isn't typical, and they had very good luck with opponents field goals.

But on the flip side, they should be healthier and they certainly shouldn't lead the league in turnovers by a mile next year either, so ideally those things will ultimately even out and they'll be a rock solid playoff team again.

Plus, they'll be playing with confidence and continued chemistry. These aren't random dudes playing together anymore. These are dudes that have had success and enjoy each other now.

Twitter cooked his ass up worse than Houston. Goodness.

Who had money on me having a better time at the wedding than watching the Browns game?
And I had the good fortune to have a flight taking off just after kickoff. My first flight had no internet, so I watched the first 2 series until my phone connection cut out. When I was changing planes I had time for a quick beer, where I watched Flacco throw two pick sixes, then boarded for Cleveland.

I'm trying to convince myself to watch the <shudder> whole replay. I haven't managed to do so yet, maybe I never will. Streaming Fargo season 2 is more gratifying at the moment, and there's still the Cavs.
