Phenomenal defense! The Hawks were held to 95 points - 26 below their average. OK, so Young wasn't himself and scored just 15 points after getting 35 against the Cavs last game, but still - it was outstanding team defense.

Allen was awesome with 14 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks in addition to forcing numerous missed shots. He did it all. He even hit a jumper from the top of the key. When he's knocking those down it's all over.

Okoro did a nice job defensively on Young and was a team high +19. This was a 21-point win but if not for very cold shooting nights by Mitchell and Merrill on 3's (5-for-20) this could have been a 30-point win.

Wade had 17 points on 7 shots! He was 5-for-6 on 3's. When he's shooting like that he's better than Mobley. Over the last three games he's 10-for-20 on 3's. If he keeps shooting with this much confidence he will be a very, very good player who can defend multiple positions, rebound, and knock down 3's.

The G-Wagon had 14 points in and 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. Not the 33-point game he had against the Bucks, but we'll take 14 and 5 every time, especially going 4-for-8 from deep.

Wade if the kind of defense and 3 point shooting continue is a team changer. That is a “new” weapon we have not had

I’m starting to think there is very little opportunities to improve this team through trades. Maybe another center for depth
I don’t know where on the bench we need improved
 
  • They talked about it on the broadcast – During their seven game win streak they’re trailed the least in the NBA. In part its due to their quick starts, like tonight. Since December 17, the Cavs are 5th in first quarter net rating. Their offensive rating is 125.6 which is 2nd. Getting on top of teams quickly has been the Cavs M.O. which is a complete shift from where they were at.
  • Prior to December 17, the Cavs were 19th in first quarter net rating. Their +0.5 was barely a break even. Their 113 offensive rating was middle of the pack.
 
I can't see this team regressing after DG and Mobley return.

Donovan continues to impress with his willingness to move the ball around.
JA with another double double, continuing to be more decisive with the ball on offense.

My favorite play was one I thought for sure was busted by Wade hits the 3.

It feels good to play the Hawks and not have to worry about Trae Young or frikkin Bogdan bailing them out from the perimeter.
Whole team came to play.

The Bucks games are going to be more difficult. But for now, loving the win streak and the continuation of basketball that will translate down the road.
