2023 Week 2: Browns @ The Scum-Sucking Steelers.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They’ll probably do something stupid like hire bill O’Brien as head coach since he was good with Watson.
I.... wouldn't hate it.

Bill O'Brien was fucking AWFUL once he got GM duties, but just as a coach? He's been pretty damn good everywhere he's gone...

He did the Saban rehab. If you could pry him away from New England...

Myles Garrett attended to last night's game? Just seen he made a postgame cameo at the podium for some reason.

That first offensive play set up the expectations for the whole night. Coming off a solid win playing against your arch-rival who had their faces rubbed in the dirt last week, we draw up a four yard pass to the second tight end. Not going the safe route with Chubb to run down their throats. Not trying a 40 yarder to Goodwin., a down the middle seam to Njoku or throwing to your #1 receiver Cooper who knew how important it was for him to be playing. Even if he was injured. Not even a screen/gadget play to Moore which we would grumble at if it didn't work..

Sometimes the best offensive mind is a defensive mind. If I were Stefanski at halftime I would have been brainstorming with Van Pelt and Schwartz to bounce off each other scenarios and figure out what adjustments each would make. Shanahan came in here last week with Mr. Irrelevant at QB and you can't map a game plan that will work?

The Steelers weren't giving up the deep ball and playing the middle of the field tight. Goodwin had two targets and neither were catchable. This would have been an opportunity to get DPJ at 6'1" and Tillman at 6'3" in there for contested balls instead of 5'10" Moore along the sideline.

The fumbles and penalties were drive killing all night. The sack, strip and score was the nail in the coffin. How bad Pittsburgh's offense was, without the strip six we could have played field position for another few minutes and eked out a win. Amazing giving up six turnovers in two games and we still had a solid argument for being 2-0. Too many missed blocks and throws that were Baker-like multiple feet off target. Yes there were missed calls. Right or wrong, we shouldn't expect to get any calls our way from the refs on the field or in NY playing in Pittsburgh .

The good news: the defense has given up 15 points and just over 400 yards in two games. The bad news: the offensive has given up 14 points in two games.

Stefanski has to go all in on Watson and open up the offense to Watson's strengths within what personnel we have. There is no Chubb or Cook to be option 1A in the backfield.

We don't.

This team as currently constructed is blitzkrieging towards a 6-11 season. Maybe, maybe they can get to 7 or 8 wins if the defense keeps playing well.

If I had to guess right now I’d say about 8 wins.

If that’s all we’re getting out of Watson, and we dont make a move for another RB, that’s the ceiling frankly. This was week 2. By week 10 injuries will be piling on the D and they wont be as effective, negating that factor. Offense needs to find a way to be productive or this season is a wrap.

If Deshaun Watson turns out to actually suck, it will be a franchise killer. It will mean we have given him one of the worst contracts in the history of the NFL. The Browns owe him almost a quarter of a billion dollars in fully guaranteed money. Say goodbye to any hope of competing for years to come.

This is good. Franchise killer? Did you not watch the 20 years before him? It was a bad loss but with Chubb we are 2-0. Just relax and watch the games and stop pretending you are the GM or HC. The QB play can’t get any worse. Well we could have Pickett I guess…

Garrett would have had 5 sacks playing against Watson and these two tackles :chuckle:
And if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. Watt makes plays and shows up all over the place, Myles has fire and spurts but also disappears. Like yesterday. And teams run right by him, because good coaches know how to suck him out of position. Its delusional to not just give Watt his due.

You know what man, you’re not wrong. Today took a huge toll out of me. I do not want to be bad. I do not relish in being bad. But my favorite player, the role model of role models has an injury that everyone starts saying is a career ender and then we follow that up with an inexplicable loss to a frankly mediocre division rival

I’m fucking depressed about it. I’m tired of it always being next year. You start to lose faith that the year ever actually comes
There's better things to do with your Sunday. I also got a little sucked in this year so far, but I'm pretty much out now. I'll watch a little next week but the day to day ... sports are supposed to be a entertainment, a diversion, 'the boredom killing business'. Once it becomes this painful, a distraction, well it's time to take a step back. Hopefully for the players sake they find something; I think the defense will still be special and that will probably bring me back. Ill just go wash dishes when the offense takes the field.

There's nothing wrong with dink and dunking down the field if you are able to do it. 4 yards every play keeps the sticks moving. It just feels like Stefanski and Watson can't help themselves from trying to do too much when it isn't needed.
Eh defenses adjust when they know the ball only goes so far each down and eventually choke off the dink and dunk. It's like in baseball how teams realized Myles Straw can't hit the ball more than 150 feet, so the defense bunches up and completely cuts off any chance at a hit. If Watson doesn't take at least some shots down the field then the field never opens up.
