With Tito managing I got used to slow starts, so this hot start is really surprising especially with Bieber going down after two starts, Williams still not having thrown a pitch, and the same for Hentges.

Well Detroit started the season 5-0 and we started 3-2…my only care is that we lead the division at the final wire.

Just as a blast from the past, I was looking at the pitching staff from that year...

Dave freaking Burba led team with most IP, but also names from that year - Bartolo, Nagy, Jaret Wright, Shuey, Assenmacher, Tom Candiotti....

And also, that was Manny's 165 rbi year, PLUS, Robbie had 120 rbis, Sexton had 116, Thome had 108, and Dave Justice had 88.

And Sandy behind the plate, Omar and Robbie up the middle, Lofton in center... say no more...

I had to look the Candiotti part up, as I remembered him from the late 80’s and early 90’s when I was just old enough to start really getting into being a fan, but had no recollection of him on the 99 team.

Sure enough, he ended his career by making two starts that season, 8 years after his last one with the Tribe.

Gavin Williams threw 50 pitches in Arizona and felt good. He's on his way to Cleveland, probably to pitch a couple of rehab starts at Akron or Columbus.

Sam Hentges threw a perfect inning at Columbus.

So don't panic, Guardian fans, help is on the way. It's not over yet. We're still in this thing.

Oh, and Jose Ramirez hit an opposite field home run batting right-handed for the first time since 2017. It was off a 98 mph fastball. He's still got something left in the tank.
