2024 Season | Series #11 | Angels @ Guardians | May 3-5, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
2hours and 17 minutes for the game..pretty quick for a Saturday Night..

I can't believe how stupid Detmers is. Bases loaded, two out, Bo Naylor up. The previous at-bat he struck Naylor out with three fastballs up in the zone, swing-and-miss every time. Anybody can see that Bo's swing is too long to catch up to high heat.

So with bags juiced Detmers decides to start Bo off with a low slider. Bo fouls it off. Next pitch is a curveball at the knees. Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's.

I was positive Detmers would just blow three more fastballs past him at the top of the zone but he did a Nuke Laloosh. "Naw, man, he's lookin' for heat". Maybe the catcher told Bo what was coming.

Ben Lively with six strong innings and after four starts his ERA is a glittering 2.08. If he had enough innings to qualify he'd be 12th in the league among starters. This guy is saving our bacon with Bieber and Williams out and Carrasco scuffling. Lively is making $750 K this year!

I don't see any way he maintains a 2.08 but if he can take the ball every fifth day and give us a 3.50 or thereabouts he'll be an incredible value. We have control of him for two more years if I'm not mistaken.

Chalk up three more scoreless, hitless innings for the bullpen.

If you had me name the three least likely guys to homer in this game I'd probably have said Hedges, Laureano, and Bo. Guess what?

Also David Fry went 1-for-3 with a walk, raising his on-base percentage to .456 which would put him 2nd in the majors behind Mookie Betts if he had enough at-bats. Incredible. Of course if he had enough at-bats to qualify he'd have more at-bats against RHP's and his OBP would be lower. But he's still doing a tremendous job. And he can catch and play the corner infield and outfield positions.

He even pitched five innings last year, giving up seven earned runs. Not an impressive ERA, but getting 15 outs in one season against major league hitters is impressive for a position player.

His OBP against left-handed pitchers is a mind-blowing .594. He has nine walks and two HBP's in 31 plate appearances against lefties. Not to menton eight hits.
