#33: Carrick Felix

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's not ready. New Orleans attacked him as soon as he got in the game, and he just wasn't prepared for the speed and physicality of the game.

Hopefully he gets a chance to really develop in Canton.

Brown said postgame that he meant to sub-in Karasev when he took Delly out in the 1st quarter, but there was a "mixup" so Felix checked-in instead.

I don't know how that even happens...but there you go.

That is some idiotic shit right there. He should have just said that he wants to see some minutes from Felix. He looks very stupid with that comment.

Byron Scott (who's a terrible coach--but seems to be better than Brown) used to say it's okay for a rookie to make a few mistakes, but you at least wait unit he does something positive before you pull him-be it a shot, pass, nice pick or a play on the defensive end.

This is how bad we have it. No one should wonder why the team and every member of it under performs and Brown is clueless. Pulling Carrick Felix the way he did was criminal. Yes, Carrick didn't play well in his very limited minutes, but there"s no excuse for potentially ruining a player's confidence and embarrassing him in front of the entire team like that.

Mike Brown is a complete and utter joke.

I think Felix is a different case. He's a second round pick who has a master's degree from Arizona State after playing them for 3 (or 4?) seasons. Point being, he's a lot more mature than most rookies. I think he understands.

He also made that great defensive play in transition right before he was pulled. Even though chaos and bucket followed, that strip was wonderful.

19. Carrick Felix made a strange NBA debut in the first quarter. Brown was ripping through every wing on the bench and it didn’t take him long to get to Felix, who entered before Karasev. Turns out, Brown was getting a little ahead of himself, too. He thought the Cavs could play faster and push the tempo more than they were, so he turned to Felix, who has been sidelined since the preseason with a hernia.20. “The first thing that came to mind was, ‘Carrick is going to run.’ So I put Carrick out there, then I was like, ‘Oh crud, I meant to go to Sergey.’ I didn’t want to take the young fella out that quickly because it was early in the game and I didn’t think it would be a huge difference, so then I went to Sergey.”
21. Felix had two turnovers in 1:38 and didn’t play the rest of the night.

From what I know about Mike Brown, he's not going to say that Carrick was awful and had to get yanked. That's not his style. He'll make up story that puts the blame on himself.

-53.92 PER

Has to be a record

Even more impressive is managing to do it while averaging 0 points, 0 assists, and 0 rebounds.

Just looked at his page on ESPN and it is starting to see the zero's across the board and the -53.92.

That is alot of damage to cause in 2 minutes.

Cavs G Carrick Felix suffered a left patellar stress fracture playing for the D-League Canton Charge. He's out 6-8 weeks.
.

Re: #33: Carrick Felix (out 6-8 weeks)

Maybe Bennett will take his place on the bus down to Canton. :chuckles:

Of course with Andy fighting his knees, and Sims' last showing, it's probably a good idea to keep Bennett with the team.

UGHhhh

Thats the knee cap right?

Get well kid. Was this a home game? Was it down in Canton during the preseason when we had to cancel a game for court conditions or was that Baldwin Wallace?

Indeed, and given the infrequency of the injury, I would assume there is a possibility of an underlying issue.

Re: #33: Carrick Felix (out 6-8 weeks)

Stress fracture and not to contact?

Part of the problem with having 19 year olds in the NBA is that their bone density is still playing catch up. For a 23 year old rookie to get one from just practice and a few games in the D league isn't a good sign.

The court problems were at the scrimmage held at Baldwin Wallace.

Felix was playing in an away game in Delaware on Saturday and left the game with a knee injury in the fourth quarter.

It's a stress fracture of the kneecap. I assume it was a cumulative thing -- didn't seem to happen on one specific play according the game archived on YouTube.
