A Closer Look at Kyrie Irving

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have no words for clip. Except that just before this, Kyrie skyed for an offensive rebound over Kanter and Sulllger and finished the put back in traffic.

Just because we are mad at Lebron, there is nothing wrong with top level iso players, ie Jordan or Kobe, they did ok, ofcourse Phil had alot to do with both of their success.

That said, I prefer a prettier form of basketball. A Magic Johnson or Jason Kidd style pg who controls the pace of the game and less standing around on offense. But ISO style has won championships, so has true pg style. More than one way to skin a cat.

Well, let's see...

We never had Phil, we never implemented a system like the triangle so the other guys could still be effective, we never had a Pippen, let alone a Gasol, albeit we did have a Shaq :O. Even teams that have tried to implement the triangle have failed.

I never understood why the Cavs went down that path. LeISO was effective (and I've documented that many times myself) but if we'd actually won a championship playing that way (with basically a single player leading the team in nearly every category) it would been unprecedented. We hoped LeBron was that great, but that's just not the way to build a team.

Dirk was great, but the only playoff categories he lead the Mavs in were MP, FG, FT, TO, PTS, 3P%, FT%, PER, DRB%, USG%, OWS, and WS. That's a lot but he didn't lead the team in 3P, ORB, TRB, AST, STL, BLK, PF, FG%, TS%, eFG%, ORB%, TRB%, AST%, STL%, BLK%, TOV%, DRtg, or DWS. Dirk was able to focus on doing what he did best - and he got a lot of help.

Of course James had all sorts of extra help this year - and never did really integrate his game with the rest.

So, there's definitely a problem with super-talent/super-ego types like James, Jordan, Kobe, etc; but I'm not going to say we should just avoid drafting someone like that - but it is important to build a *team* where everyone is expected to contribute, and numerous players can be expected to step up.

So when the games on the line irving displays explosiveness and creativity to keep team USA on track. Whats not to like?

Whoever it was that bought the custom #15 Irving jersey is a little upset right now. :chuckles:

I thought he would go 14 since he wore #1 and #4 at different times in his career, but both are taken here.

:chuckles: Fucking gift card's expiration date.

Good news is that no one will know that it's the wrong number for about a year when he finally plays his first game as a Cav. :(

You guys aren't going to believe me, but I'll share anyways. My brother is 18 and films recruits at camps, tournaments, etc and last week, I think Thursday, Kyrie was flying out of Cleveland and back to Raleigh/Durham airport and my brother picked him and Nolan Smith (who was flying into RDU from Portland) up. One of my brothers friends has a filming company, BallisLife, and he has connections.

I just figured I'd share.

Maybe Irving will get rid of the stench the last guy that wore #2 for us left.

This guy is a certified nerd. Tweeting about watching Harry Potter all day and how he can't wait for the new movie to come out. Could be a good thing, but he needs to get a little thug in him. :chuckles:
