A Closer Look at Perry Jones

PJ3 is falling. I think he could end up falling to the late 1st or even 2nd round, as teams question his desire & he seems to be a guy without a position.
For all his ability, he is too soft for PF and seems to be lacking the perimeter skills of a SF. He has some serious confidence issues as well.

Late first or early second is ludicrous. He may fall out of the top 10, but he will not fall much further. The kid will be perfectly fine on a team with an established leader. I'd like to think he'd be great here with Kyrie as the apparent leader/franchise player, but #4 is just too high. I'd take him with either Portland pick though.

there is a 0% chance perry jones falls to the 2nd round. even late 1st is unlikely (depending on your definition of late).

Oh, so he knows that he sucks?

I guess we'll see, huh?
There has been little in the way of positive buzz surrounding PJ3. He's a tweener, he's one of the softest players in the draft, & he'a admitted to having confidence issues.
Some team will probably take him at some point in the 1st round, but it wouldn't surprise me if he fell to the twenties. I don't think it's a given either that the Cavaliers would take him at #24.
As talented as he is, this kid's mental makeup is very sketchy. That's something that can be difficult, if not impossible, to fix.

If Perry Jones fell to 24, and the Cavs didn't take him, I would be completely shocked.

There's a difference between not hearing buzz, and someone falling into the near 2nd round for no reason.

I'm hearing lots of buzz about Jones, it's just that none of it is good buzz. Looking at all the talented, low risk wings in the late first round, PJIIII could really drop.

Do you really think he'd fall past 24?

His size alone should keep him in the teens I would think.

i hope im not the only one who would trade av for houstons 15 to draft perry jones

Didn't you know that AV is an old, injury prone, overpaid, garbage player, who will never bring us a pick that high??
At least so say the many resident experts on this board.

Seems unlikely that he gets past Boston.

Mmm, not sure about that. The C's still have Jeff Green & they drafted a similar player, in Jajuan Johnson, in the first round last year.

You mean the same Jeff Green who had open heart surgery this year and missed the entire season? The same Jeff Green who Boston declined a Qualifying offer to which makes him an UFA? JaJuan Johnson who was drafted 27th overall in what was considered a very weak draft and ended up playing in 36 games this season?

Those are ridiculous reasons why Boston wouldn't take Perry Jones. He will be gone by the time Boston picks anyway. He'll be in the late lottery or mid teens the latest just based on his measurements.

I don't disagree with any of your points. In fact, I think you're probably right. BUT...

As cliched as it may be, strange shit can and sometimes does happen in the NBA draft. I remember watching Jameer Nelson and Marcus Williams fall in their respective drafts after seeing them ranked pre-draft as top 10 or so talents. CDR, as recently mentioned by Douglar, had a rather infamous fall. DeAndre Jordan was a top 10 (even top 5) lock at the beginning of his freshman season and, while his stock had dropped a bit right before the draft, few foresaw him lasting to the second round based on his measurables.

I would never say I expect it, but seeing PJ3 still there after the top 10, then watching pick after pick go by with him still on the board, while Eli's Limping Puppy Dog Eyes gradually asphyxiates himself, doesn't seem completely out of the realm of possibility.

Quick, OS rep if somebody can tell me who PJIII worked out for and how he performed.

Are there any other players in the draft or NBA better physically equipped to stop Durant?
