i would like to ask the mods something. I know they are trying REALLY hard to clean up the board and i think it needs it. there has clearly been a drop in quality vs quantity in the last couple of weeks, however as predicted as soon as the trading deadline passed everything eased up. New posters left, got banned, got bored, whatever and like last year there has clearly been a shake out of these posters.

However, mods keep talking about wanting to clean up everything. In the last couple of days threads keep getting moved from one forum to the next by different mods depending on which mod thinks it fits into which forum. A couple of examples, one thread was about the TNT guys talking down about the cavs (clearly talking about the cavs) yet somehow it ended up in the NBA forum, because??? but then a day later either a new thread was started which is still there, a new thread was started and threads were moved, or the thread was moved back. Im still not sure what happened, but not matter how you cut it, it shows the mods to be overzealous.

another example the shaq thread, which is now in the trade ideas forum while the "which free agent" thread is still in the cavs forum. Im not sure I follow the logic on how these should be in different forums, or why it is that now the trade deadline has passed a thread about shaq getting bought out is in the "trade ideas" forum. I understand there cant not be a forum for everything, but please be realistic, when a thread is VERY CLEARLY talking about the cavs i feel as though it should end up in the cavs forum (especially as its not a trade).

additionally there is a quote about cleaning up the message board that I really take exception too in the new rules.

So if you start threads relating to a subject already being discussed in another forum, you are on our radar. Please stop starting new threads for every random thought in your head.

This to me is totally unacceptable. Its one thing if everything were in one forum, however with threads being divided up all over (often as pointed out with no real logic), and many threads taking many different turns, I think it makes it almost impossible to be sure that you arent starting a previously covered topic. We should not be threatening members on this board for trying to bring in new information.

I would humbly like to request things get eased up a bit. I have been here for a very long time and while things clearly hit a bump last week, everything returns to the status quo. It returned last year, it returned the year before that. I understand the need for moderation but i believe there is a difference between keeping things under control (which needed to happen last week) and being over bearing, and its getting very close to that in my opinion.

I have never and will never ask to be a mod, but I do hope you take this into consideration.

I agree with the 2nd part, although I'm not too sure about the 1st part....in a perfect world you'd like for forum browsers to search for threads to see if they will be posting about a topic that has already been brought up, but the reality is that this will never happen. The mods should simply delete the thread if they so choose.

The mods, I am sure, are just trying to make this site as good as they can, and no one is perfect - and sometimes people can get out of hand or what-have-you. The main idea, I think, is to keep this forum as clean as possible when relating to personal attacks and thread bashing. If you monitor these things, then discussion will flourish.

I'm fully with the mods on this one.

It's completely ridiculous to carry on the same conversation in 4 different threads.

The most annoying thing to type is "I said this in another thread but...."

because everyone reads every post of ever thread? sorry im not picking on you but, some of this is just getting out of control. For instance I have started one of those threads about the trade exception, buried somewhere in one of the massive trade threads I talked about. First i believe it was an excellent point, and second not even did it not get responded to in the first post it was filled in by 2 pages of stuff even before people could read it. In the end while it only ended up a 8-10 post thread it (i think) really gave people a better understanding of what happening. As we have gotten further from the deadline I have seen VERY LITTLE reposts of information, and I would like to consider myself very active. Once again I believe you as well as the mods are looking at this from a last week perspective not a this week perspective. Things got a little out of hand last week when there were often times 100's of people viewing threads at a time, currently the most active FORUM has 63. Things have clearly calmed down.

I think at this point the board has reached a certain critical mass and that good points are often lost because everyone is so willing about about quality and consolidation. As any board grows the number of 'bad' posts is going to grow just because the board is growing. I simply believe this is a reaction to something that has passed us, and happens from time to time (trade deadlines, important games, drafts etc).

Thanks for the feedback and I understand your concern, although it's been so crazy lately that a lot of decisions have had to be made on the fly to keep things from getting out of control. I agree that some of the moves are left to the whim of each mods opinion. There are probably some things that could be done to take some of the guess work out of it. I'll get the mods together in a kumbaya session to see if any changes could be made to the forums to make it a little more clear what goes where.

I think the mods have done a swell job during the deadline and after to clean up the mess that was left over and Im not kissing ass.

Bob thanks for showing your concerns. I for one am the party on all those examples you speak of. So what you have stated is taken on board.

We'll in time explain the difference between the forums although there will it will never be completely black and white.

My main problem with some of these threads is the mannor they are posted. The thread title and opening post set the standard for a thread in general. So something like "Sir Charles thinks we are crap and Orlando are better and Kenny agrees" is hardly setting any type of example. Basically it is followed by with posts of similar standard. This is where it is grey. Could have closed the thread, but I decided to merge it with a thread which was discussing that same theme.

If that original poster titled the thread "Media Believe Orlando Have Passed Cavs with recent trade" and posted some thing along the lines of Charles Barklay and Kenny Smith have stated that Orlando's trade that brought in Rafer Alston has pushed this team passed the Cavs". They could then go on and explain why they believe this and if this poster disagrees they outline their views, without to resorting to Kenny Blows, Charles is a wanker stuff.

The first post sets the standard!

Anyways we'll get something up which may clear the murky skies a touch.

The mods definitely have a challenging job to say the least, especially around the trade deadline where things get kind of nuclear around here. What we have to understand is that, like the rest of us, they would like to come onto the site and not have to deal with the "riff-raff". They would probably LOVE it if they could log on and simply dispense and read timely information that many of us here enjoy doing. I certainly don't envy them, but I do try to understand that their job here isn't glamour and glitz all the time. Yes, they have the respected titled of "Moderator", but with it comes extra responsibility and a lot more BS to deal with. They are human and will, from time to time, make mistakes and make decisions based on emotions. And it probably happens moreso during the stressful time of the trade deadline than at any other time here.

So, I understand where you are coming from and some of your points are definitely valid. However, for what the mods have to put up with, I think they do the best they can and we all should probably try to understand the scope and volume of issues the mods have to deal with.

Not sure where to post it, but this thread seemed moderately on target...

Why was XSabre420 banned? Was it his argument with Moohead in Cavs Talk or something separate? He seemed like a great poster and addition to this board, and I just wanted to know where he crossed the line so I don't accidentally find myself in the same situation.

I'm not banned. I'm removing myself and my posts from this forum. Passive aggressive attacks at me are weak.

Well, I might as well cut you loose, Sabre.. You know I don't want to do it, as you are indeed hands down one of my all time favorite posters on here--but, it's probably better than to have you delete all these posts...

Stay well, buddy..

Pip with the assist...ed suicide.

Sucks to be honest.. I see eye to eye with Sabre on a ton of issues...The guy is easily in my FAVE 5.. :chuckles:

But if he doesn't want to be apart of this forum, I can respect that...
