Adams vs Gobert vs Len (alphabetical order and such)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs really need to pick a C with their lottery pick be it Noel, Len, or even Adams. I'm still not as sold on Gobert despite his height and standing reach. Given the choice between Adams vs Gobert vs Len I would take Len.

All this talk about trying to trade up from 19 to get their C sounds like a risky proposition. They will be scrambling to find a trade partner during the draft and then may be stuck with the leftover guy. Cavs could likely have their pick of the litter with their own lottery pick. I don't see any 'must haves' in this draft to pass over the center position again. Once they have their center it gives them freedom to move around the draft or possibly deal their other picks.

My favorite combinations now are Noel/Saric and Len/Bullock. Drafting Len and then dealing for a vet like Luol Deng could be another option for them. The talking heads at the combine are talking about the Cavs possibly dealing their lottery pick for someone like Deng but I would pass on that.

@JasonLloydABJ: Len didn't play bkball til 13, said he liked watching Zydrunas Ilgauskas & sees similarities in their games. Also similar to Valanciunas
.

What separates Adams from Darko?

Kinda just playing devil's advocate here, but they are both big-bodied white men (Darko was even bigger coming into the NBA) who are coming into the NBA a bit unpolished.

I think the biggest worries for Adams is that his hands may be worse then Hickson's. Even if he learns the nuances of the game better, it's hard to be a dominant big man without being able to catch lobs and hold the ball against people trying to strip you.

Overall: I think getting one big man who can protect the paint and can play off Irving and Dion is critical for the Cavs and I think Noel, Len, Adams, or Gobert all have the potential to be that kind of big. Here's hoping Grant can pick the one who will stand out in the NBA.

This is the type of draft where Grant (and other GM's) has to earn his money. All 4 of those guys have pretty damn high ceilings, but at the same time I could see each busting for one reason or another. Such a scary draft, and I wouldn't mind doubling down on bigs to double our chances of hitting on one.

I agree: I've been a bigger fan of T. Zeller more then most but I wouldn't be adverse to using both picks on centers and then getting a SF thru trade/FA

Why nit drafting porter and then looking to get two of them via the draft. We will have to make some trades but Dallas will want to drop cap so that could get us their pick almost outright by taking on salary and giving up our seconds. Then Andy and the #19 pick could get us another pick, draft Len and Gobert and just roll with it.

Kyrie Irving/Shaun Livingston
Dion Waiters/Vince Carter/Wayne Ellington
Otto Porter/Shawn Marion/Alonzo Gee
Tristan Thompson/Tyler Zeller
Alex Len/Rudy Gobert

Between Len, Gobert and Adams; Len is the only one I'd take in the lottery. He has the best combination of skills, talent and upside.
Gobert scares me and might have too much bust potential. We've seen too many of these international big men who rise up and are taken higher than they should be and end up with very disappointing careers. At 19 fine but I wouldn't consider him with the Cavs first pick. I might even take Adams ahead of him. He should be a more physical player and be able to compete in the paint.

I like Len the most, but if we're going to gamble on a high upside pick I'm going with Gobert. I was really impressed with his athleticism and shooting touch for having such a gigantic frame. He's not an uncoordinated monster, he can actually move and shoot. He would be riskier but he could be such a defensive weapon.

The youngest of 18 kids? Jesus christ.

Its a vagina, not a clown car.

That said, right now I would be interested in a Noel/Len pick at the top of the round and Giannis Adetokunbo mid-first. Whichever bigman the Cavaliers pick, having Varejao around to mentor the guy is going to be key the first two seasons.
