all we need is rip and tayshun

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought you cant package a player with the TPE? You can only trade the TPE alone for a player or 2 am I right?

I remember lbusiness creating a horrible thread and I hit him with a text talk video.....I think another is forthcoming.....

I suppose one option the Cavs could go for is the completely bomb for 4 years model...

Get an unprotected 1st in 2011 for taking RIP and Tayshaun
Get an unprotected 1st in 2011, McGee, for taking Arenas
Get a top 8 protected 1st in 2011 by trading Williams to Kings for Garcia
Get Sessions/Koufous for Delonte

By 2014, when all those albatross contracts come off the books, we can think about contending again. Honestly, just trade for them and bench them if we're going to get them.

I acually think Dan Gilbert could push for a move like this. Especially if he wants to try and compete this season.

If I'm the Cavs though, I do it differently. Use the trade exception to land one, and then Antawn Jamison to land the other.

Jamison is in the way right now. JJ Hickson is this team's PF, and Jamison can't play the 3. Defensively he can't guard 3 or 4's, or pretty much anyone for that matter.

Rip's contract isn't great, but it's only a year longer than Jamison's and Rip is 2 years younger.

I doubt the Cavs would keep Shaq. Use his Bird rights and Delonte's contract to add a big.

It depends on what detroit is after. Shaq on a sign and trade for Rip, Tayshaun and a draft pick is a no brainer. Could probably throw in Moon or Jawad so make it go down better. Not Sure what Detroit thinks it will get for those two guys, but I doubt other teams would offer as much. If we use our trade exception, Detroit saves 30 million dollars.

I also think Rip is a good model for Eyenga. Similar frame and athleticism. Tayshaun may have lost a step but he would be better than anyone we currently think is going to play small forward including Matt Barnes.

I think what is left of the Cavs compliments these two very well. Both move well without the ball and both know how to play team defense. Prince is gone after this year so he is valuable as a sign and trade at the allstar break, and Hamilton has only two years guaranteed.

Fucking awful idea for a rebuilding team.

I would do that if and only if they gave us a lottery pick and possibly Greg Monroe, and if not Monroe then Daye. Taking those two contracts is suicide for a rebuilding team, we would likely make the playoffs though which would be a plus I guess.

I usually agree with most of the veteran posters on this board, but for once I actually think that this isn't such a terrible idea.

I would not mind seeing something like this go down.

Cleveland Outgoing: Antawn Jamison, Sebastion Telfair, Anthony Parker, part of TPE, one of Miami's 2nd rd picks

Detroit Outgoing: Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, 2011 1st round pick

Then trade Delonte for Koufus and Sessions

Our Lineup:

PG: Mo Williams/Ramon Sessions
SG: Rip Hamilton/Daniel Gibson/Danny Green/Christian Eyenga
SF: Tayshaun Prince/Jamario Moon
PF: J.J. Hickson/Leon Powe
C: Anderson Varejao/Kosta Koufus

I think this team and starting 5 would establish a very strong defensive identity (besides Mo), and would look good collecting rebounds and getting out on the break. We have a mix of young and old guys. We stay competitive. Prince is an expring deal. Rip has a bad contract but we get rid of Jamison's. Rip is a great guy to have groom our young guards Green and Eyenga. Doubt its a trade that gets done but I wouldn't be opposed to it happening.

Ben Simmons and a 1st for Garland
1. PG D.MITCHELL/C.PORTER JR.
2. SG M.STRUSS/I.OKORO
3. SF. B.SIMMONS/C.LEVERT
4. PF. E.BATES/D.WADE
5. C. J.ALLEN/E.MOBLY
You should take more than a first just for taking Simmon's contract off their hands. At this point, one cannot consider Simmons an actual NBA player. He is just a bad contract. Garland is a 24 year old just 2 seasons removed from an All-Star nod. This way undervalues him.
