What's the latest ?
Our hopes have been crushed.

But no, there is some sort of major roadblock in all of our possible Philly deals, so we're searching for a third team to facilitate the deal.

And we're supposedly talking to other teams about players who have not been mentioned in the media.

W&G is optimistic about a trade getting done, although it may not be the Iggy trade.

I didnt know that. Dammit, i want Iguodala!!

Anyone else surprised we are going after Amare? I guess Ferry really does think Amare could fit in long term.

Honestly, it'd make most sense to try and use Sacramento as the 3rd team considering they wanted Dalembert before and have a big expiring (Kenny Thomas)... Basically it'd be Thomas + Ilgauskas + picks/players to Philly; Iguodala + players to CLE and Dalembert to Sac...

OKC could work too with Etan Thomas going to PHI and Nick Collison coming here...

Anyway here's some more buzz:

Amar'e Stoudemire trade scenarios still plausible for Suns
by Paul Coro - Feb. 8, 2010 07:09 PM
The Arizona Republic

On this final march to the Feb. 18 NBA trade deadline, there is no imminent Amar'e Stoudemire trade, but a deal with major franchise implications remains quite possible.

The Suns' most frequently mentioned potential trade partners are Cleveland and Philadelphia.

A trade prospect with Cleveland combines a financial windfall and a young, promising power forward replacement in J.J. Hickson, whom the Suns liked in the 2008 draft when they tabbed center Robin Lopez. Phoenix would stand to save several million dollars in a deal involving center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who received most of his salary up front and could be bought out to move Phoenix toward the possibility of being a luxury tax recipient rather than payer.

Possibilities with Philadelphia could be stronger with two fronts, a deal between bringing in swingman Andre Iguodala for Stoudemire with perhaps young power forward Marreese Speights or a three-way deal involving Detroit with Pistons guard Ben Gordon winding up in Philadelphia and the Suns getting Iguodala and Detroit power forward Chris Wilcox. The rub with Iguodala, a 26-year-old former Arizona star, is inheriting a contract that will pay him $56.5 million over the next four seasons.

Stoudemire's declaration that he is leaning toward picking up next season's $17.7 million option also has muddied the trade waters for teams who like him as an expiring deal.

The Suns have not been interested in other teams' inquiries about Lopez.

* * * * * *

I don't see how a PHI-PHO trade could work out considering the two main pieces (Amare & Dre) would occupy most of the salary in the swap, leaving little room for expiring contracts which it seems both teams need and want most...

I don't think that's what W&G meant. The way I read it was that Ferry was contacting more teams to bring in for a 3-way deal to still net us Iggy (or Dre if you prefer), not that he was moving toward a different target.

W&G is not messing with us.

I wouldn't doubt if Ferry has called EVERY SINGLE TEAM in the league asking about available players that we would be interested in or the possibility of getting them involved in a 3-way to net us the guy we really want.

So, do we think that guy that Ferry wants is Igoudala? Or is this just another Cavs fan dream gone wild and taken a life of its own...?

and now this thread has reached the point of only reading posts with a minimum of 3 thanks on them.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I didn't mean Ferry was moving on, just that he was also having ongoing talks with other teams.

W&G said:
It's not really JJ. I'm hearing alot of financial issues that are having a hard time getting to fit on both sides, and accomplish what is felt is necassary from a player standpoint. Finding a third team might make the player package, and financial aspects fit for all sides.

But, that's tough to accomplish as we all have found out from past experiences. We've gone from smaller simpler packages, and then have eventualy explored things that got rather cumbersome ... I was getting the impression from the Philly side that things seemed very plausible ...so, you hear different impressions based on who you talk to.

Philly is talking with up to five different teams now, and in any of them could be a fit for a third team in some capacity.

Plus, we have conversations going with teams that have never even been mentioned in trade talks all over the media and internet. So, I still feel that we'll be able to get something accomplished. I'm stil fr more optimisitic than pessimistic that we'll get a trade done.

But, I like most of you have hoped to be able to land Iguodala. Have always liked his game, and have just felt he had more on his plate in Philly than was appropriate. I thin that he beng teamed with and coordinated with Lebeon would be a force that couldn't be matched for the next eight years or so in the league, and they would accomplish magnificient things together.

I'm hoping that somehow things get done on that front ...

I took that as even if we aren't able to get an Iggy deal done (straight up or 3-way), he does believe one of the other deals will work out.
