Maccabi Tel Aviv made a surprising announcement on Friday, releasing that the Euroleague champs had agreed to terms with former Hapoel Jerusalem hero Will Solomon.
In a press release, Maccabi said that it was "happy to announce that Solomon will be joining the team. The contract is for two seasons." Later in the day Solomon confirmed the news, adding that the contract had yet to be formally signed.
The move virtually confirms that star guard Sarunas Jasikevicius will not be returning to Israel. The Lithuanian, who has been a key factor in Maccabi's run to back-to-back Euroleague titles, has been entertaining offers from several NBA clubs. Rumors in NBA circles have Saras set to join fellow Lithuanian Zydrunas Ilgauskas and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Maccabi will be Solomon's fourth stop since leaving the Memphis Grizzlies after one season in 2002. Solomon, who will turn 27 on Wednesday, first went to Greece, where he led Aris Thessalonica to the FIBA Europe League final in his only season there. He then moved to Jerusalem, guiding the team to its first European title in the ULEB Cup. Last season he joined Turkish giant Efes Pilsen, averaging 14.4 points as the team made a run to the Euroleague quarterfinals and took the domestic title.
I don't know what to beleive, one day it's looking up and things are going well he is almost a Cavalier 2 days later he is headed to Indiana cuz they offered 15 over 3 then the next day he is close to joining the Cavaliers im getting kinda pissed he needs to make up his mind so we can get this going..
