Anthony Bennett

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I'd love to see us getting AB into some pick n roll action...not pick n pop, ROLL BABY!

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Dominos is a ton better since they changed to new crust.

Yeah, Dominoes used to be fucking terrible, now their not bad at all..

People hate on cheap pizza chains but for some reason I crave it more than expensive pizza.

Probably because their pizzas are fat laden on purpose to make you crave it more. Good pizza is very simple and rustic, with far less fat and carbs, which doesn't spike your insulin levels and give you that dopamine release that you'd get from eating fatty or sugary foods.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I don't know why Bennett takes so many threes. He only shot 37% from three in college. That's certainly not bad, but obviously it's harder to shoot threes in the NBA with the extended 3 pt line. So assuming he's the same shooter he was 9 months ago, which is probably the case because of his injury, we're looking at a below-avg 3 pt shooter in the NBA (for now). Absolutely no reason he should be taking this many threes.

My theory is that he is scared to get caught in transition on defense and being at the three gives him a head start on that end. He may also have the idea of being a stretch 4 without knowing what the hell a real stretch 4 is.

Just my two pennies.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

i think it's because teams are leaving him wide open from the 3-point line and he's used to taking open jump shots from distance. not yet used to taking them from quite that distance, though.

i'm looking for an ugly putback after a bynum miss or a goaltend by larry sanders to get him going. :chuckles:

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I have some crazy feeling that Anthony will explode tonight. I hope I am not wrong with that :D.

GO CAVS GO!

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I'm willing to pump the brakes here on Bennett. It's a little concerning, but way too early to sound the alarm. We saw what he was capable of doing that pre-season game against ORL where he exploded in the 4th quarter. It's not as if we're still waiting on ANY glimpse of potential. Let's face it right now, he's a luxury. We don't need scoring for Bennett in order to win. I'm much more interested in his defensive growth. He may not get the ball or score the ball with regularity, but he can always defend and rebound. The scoring is something that he won't lose.

Also, I know it's fun to bust Bennett's chops for being overweight and out of shape, but of those currently doing this, I'd wager that most aren't exactly studs at the gym either.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I think they need to start looking for him more, especially to get him out of this tough stretch, or just draw a simple play up for him to get an easy shot. Every time he gets the ball with a decent/ok look he takes it and rushes it because he's not getting the ball much and/or hasn't scored. Once he gets a couple buckets it will relieve some pressure and he can start letting the game come to him and stop pressing.

As long as the explosion isn't caused by a wafer thin mint.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Even though he's yet to make one, his 3 point shot as the trailing man in transition (especially with his rebounding ability) is going to be a lethal weapon in this league and especially on a team like this that wants to take advantage of sound defense with easy buckets.

His 3 point attempts currently draw a collective groan from all of us but as he gets into shape and into an offensive rhythm, open 3s in transition from the top of the key are going to be a staple in this guy's game. Just my opinion.

meh. The only reason that I want my big men to be able to shoot, is so they are a threat and pull their defender out of the paint. I don't actually want them shooting a lot of 3's, and I certainly don't want my PF shooting transition 3's.

Yes! This x1000.

Kinda like when you watch Miami and see Bosh launch a three, we know he's capable, but it leaves you with the feeling of: " eh, there's probably a better shot you could have taken.

Actually I celebrate when Bosh launches a 3. Anything bad that happens to Miami I support.

Those types of shots lead to long rebounds and get the other team going in transition. It's a real buzz kill of a shot.

If you're hot, that's one thing. Fire away. If not, please refrain. Especially your first shot of the night.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Bennett has struggled mightily but I think he will have a coming out game at some point where he scores puts up 25/10 in 25 minutes, a lot like Dion's big 35 point game against the Clippers last year. Once he does that he will recover his confidence.

Dion scored 28 points. And that is highly unrealistic.

Not really, even Trajan Langdon and Dajuan Wagner had huge 30 point games. If Bennett is incapable of having a breakout game in the next couple of months, a player who is supposed to be offensively gifted, then that is a huge concern.

Though I do not consider myself to be in the aforementioned group, none of us are professional athletes, so that point is irrelevant.
