At The Quarter Turn

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know the future looks extremely bright for us Cleveland fans, but I think this team is so close to being really dangerous now. Positionally, I'm not overly concerned just yet because I'm waiting to see if Miller or any other prospects can give this team a spark. I'd still like to see 1B addressed, but I'd be fine with Naylor there while Amed and HRam cover CF and RF. All 3 are hitting the ball quite well presently and I think they sustain it. None are serious power threats, but all 3 are good hitters. If they add Miller to that mix and he continues to perform then that will be a big boost. Offensively, what this team does need is for Eddie to start carrying his share.

I'd like to see a SP acquired. I don't expect everyone to agree and I'm not trying to convince anyone that it's a need. It would just significantly boost my confidence in this team's ability to make a deep postseason run.

I've mentioned it recently, but I still wonder of Gomes could be had for a reasonable cost. Having a C that could hit would also be a huge offensive boost and Gomes is still good defensively.

Feel free to criticize Dolan for being "cheap". I don't partake in it, but it has little to do with my feelings toward this organization. What no one can argue is how well this organization is ran by CA and MC. Not that every decision they make is the right one, but damn they run a tight ship.
I can't argue with anything that you have said here.

Thanks! I'm anxious to see what Moss can do and I agree 100% with what you stated about Hentges. There's just too much to work with there to cast him to the side or pigeon hole him into a BP role just yet.

The thing with McKenzie for me is the lack of confidence in regards to his durability. I'm also beginning to believe that I had his ceiling higher than it actually is.

I think Cesar is now hitting the ball like we thought he would and he's just about flawless defensively. Just a f'n solid baseball player.

Eddie is our bugaboo right now. The lineup isn't deep enough without him performing as usual.

I think Miller has such a low maintenance, repeated swing to go along with excellent pitch recognition that he'll at least be an average hitter. Probably more.

Mark Loretta is Millers floor in my mind and honestly, I'll take that type of floor from a prospect since he played 10+ years in the pros.

I dont want to get into the Dolans are cheap argument, but do you see any move that they made that didnt make sense even if it wasnt cheap? They offered Lindor 200 mill, but he took a stupid contract and now getting booed.

Clevinger is 20% of our 40 man roster or something stupid, with the young SP we had, that deal makes sense.

Kluber just came off of a no hitter and is having a great year, but that is after 2 really bad years.

I might be missing some, but they wanted to reset the roster a bit and get allot of young talent while still competing. Mission accomplished.

They even got rid of Gamel for me pretty quick which is the one guy I wanted to punch on our roster even more than Bauers. (I dont hate Bauers as much as some, but not saying i love him, lol)

For all the flak they catch, the Dolans have shown to increase their spending when the team is in contention. No, they’re never going to outspend a franchise in Chicago or New York... but that’s just how MLB is set up.

Also, can we show some appreciation for Tito? Never had a losing season in all his time here, no matter the amount of injuries, roster turnover, etc.

We have a half dozen youngsters with low maintenance, repeatable swings on the way.

Miller is just the first, although if the Mets hadn't messed around with his swing, Gimenez might be another.

Yeah I haven't quite figured out Gimenez yet. His clean mechanics and athleticism suggest that he should hit a lot better than he has this season. Pressing a bit would be my guess. Alas, he's only 22 yrs old and the fact that he debuted at 21 is impressive in itself. He'll get himself right.

The Mets screwed with him a few years back, trying to get him more pull side power. He ended up with a fairly big leg kick. The results were a jump in K% and a switch from all fields approach to 50% pulling the ball.

The Indians are trying to fix it by cutting the leg kick back to a toe lift.

You realize what a floor is, right?

It’s the absolute worst case scenario.

Mark Loretta is not his floor.
A player's floor is the lowest expectation for that player. It's not the "worst case scenario". The worst case scenario is the same for every prospect. Mark Loretta is absolutely his floor and I would be disappointed if that's all he becomes.

I don’t think that’s correct. Either way, it’s semantics. So, onto the actual topic.

I think Mark Loretta is his average outcome. I’d be ok if that was Miller’s career.

We're all entitled to our opinion, but I'd like to know if there is a prospect in the system that gives you any confidence?

It's gotta be Matt LaPorta.

Although Andy Marte is a close second. I'm pretty sure they're both "can't miss" prospects. With them in the lineup and Adam Miller on the mound, we're going to be hard to beat.

I have a ton of confidence in Owen Miller along with many other prospects in our system

Good! Leave the hitting for power to power hitters and let guys like Gimenez do what they do best.

Freeman
Miller
Arias
Rocchio
Bracho
Gimenez

If we are expectant of help from Miller, we better hope he's a heck of a lot better than Loretta....and a lot quicker to produce at the MLB level.

For his first three years in MLB, covering 700 PA, he was Jake Bauers.
