Battle for the AL Central #3 -|- Tribe vs. Tigers -|- August 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wed night is going to be special :chuckles: Set Your DVR's!

You have such a hard-on for Salazar, my god. :chuckles:

Also, did I miss something? Why does everyone think Peralta won't be playing this series? I haven't heard any definitive news and an appeal is a legitimate possibility.

From Jordan Bastian at the Tribe official site:

Lately, it seems like the Indians and Tigers have won and lost on the same days.

"That won't happen the next four days," Indians manager Terry Francona said, "at least by my math."

Beginning Monday, Cleveland will host Detroit over a four-game series at Progressive Field. The Indians trailed the Tigers by three games in the division race heading into Sunday's action, and will have an opportunity to make up some ground in the standings.

Francona is looking forward to seeing how his club responds this week.

"You play all year to have a series like this be this important," Francona said. "That's exciting. If it's not, you don't have a heartbeat. So, good for us. I want our guys to enjoy the competition, because we're playing the best, and this is where we're trying to get. We're within striking distance, and it makes the games really exciting.

Francona said it was still too early to get too caught up in how close Cleveland is in either the division or AL Wild Card picture.

"I don't even talk about either one," Francona said. "You just try to win. We'll look up down the road, and if we've won the games we're supposed to, then there's a time to start looking at that. You can kind of get ahead of yourself a little bit. If you start doing math too early, you might flunk."

He is on the biogenesis list and is constantly mentioned on tv. Along with the fact they traded their top prospect for a replacement shortstop.

All players mentioned are likely to get suspension over with...except A-Rod.

All rumors have him getting 50 game suspension tomorrow. If he appeals, he damages his FA contract and $$$. Maybe we'll see if it's all about the $$$ in real time.

Speculation on the MLB radio channel is that Detroit will have little to no interest retaining him .

That's all well and good, and I have no doubt that Peralta will be suspended at some point, I'm just not convinced it'll take effect tomorrow. Especially because it seems like MLB has been prosecuting players one at a time.

Pretty sure that guy wasn't even rated in their top 10. Regardless, very far from being the best in their system. Nick Castellanos has that title.

More than likely the suspensions will be coming down this week.

A-Rod tomorrow, for certain.

Re: Battle for the AL Central #3 -|- Tribe vs. Tigers -|- August 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8

In recent days, almost all the 'noise' related to the suspensions is that MLB wants them out before teams go under 50 games to go on the regular season schedule. The idea being to get as much of the drug scandal out of the way before the 2014 season as possible.

Tigers brought up Jeremy Bonderman as a long reliever for the series, sending down Evan Reed.

No, this is not a quoted post from 2005

He was #4 prior to last season and #74 overall. Doesn't seem to be on the list this year, I'm assuming he was no longer considered a prospect for whatever reason.

Will be in attendance Wednesday! Gotta show some love for what the team's been doing lately. Going to be one hell of a series.

I'll be there Wednesday as well. Got some pretty good seats again just 2 rows behind the dugout so I'll be within heckling range.

Another reason to hate the Tigers

I always used to trade for Bonderman in MLB 06 The Show. :chuckles:

I forgot he existed.

It's been reported that they plan on doing all the suspensions at the same time.
