Blake Griffin is bonkers.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm sorry but Dwight can't do "everything" from 15 in. He just bullies smaller players and elbows the hell out of everyone. Hakeem invented the "dream shake" and honestly was a revolution in the post. Duncan perfected the midrange bank shot. Dwight is good because of his strength, he really isn't very skilled. His athleticism is the key to his success.

Same thing with Shaq basically, he just overpowered everyone with his size. He really doesn't have any go to moves down in the post he just bumps and knocks guys out of position.

He most definitely can, and he's not even comparable to Shaq in terms of size. Shaq was huge 7 footer with tree trunks for legs. . . Dwight's 6'10 with a shorter wingspan and a PFs legs. He is pretty strong though

but that's not the point. . . this year Dwight's averaging a career high in points, career low in dunks (yes, that is including his rookie year) and his shooting above league average from every location inside 15 feet (right at league average from 10-15 feet, although lower assisted percentage).

.445 eFG% on jumpshots is pretty damn good for a center (which are basically his jump shots and long hooks).

It most certainly is. . . what separates a superstar from a star is basically that, winning games. What's the point of putting up impressive stats if you're not helping your team win any games?

This isn't really towards Griffin though, he gets the rookie pass. It's more towards the Vince Carters, Al Jeffersons, Kevin Loves, and Kevin Martins of the world. . .

Did you read the next line? Blake Griffins rookie year, I believe, will result in more wins than LBJs rookie year. LBJ didn't make the playoffs, Griffin probably won't either. But are we supposed to award browny points to LBJ because his team missed the playoffs by a game, when Griffins will most likely miss it by 5-6 games? Does that have ANYTHING at all to do with LBJ?

Vince Carter got his teams to 35 wins, too. Just not going to praise LBJs rookie year because they missed the playoffs by a game when they finished the year 35-47.

I mean, you say Griff gets the rookie pass, but we are comparing his rookie year to LBJs, and the guy I quoted was saying no way Griffin gets that Cavs team ALMOST to the playoffs. I say, let's remember what "almost" was. IT was 35-47. Griffin's team could very well be better than that, but miss the playoffs by more games. Unfair to penalize him andreward LBJ simply because one plays is a much, much tougher conference than the other.

What I said had almost absolutely nothing to do with the Griffin/LeBron fuckfest but more with your comment about how getting a team in the playoffs in the NBA isn't a great accomplishment

if that's not what you meant, I'd apologize, but it was kind of your fault for not elaborating :chuckles:

Well, I did mean that. Getting a team to the playoffs by winning 35 games isn't a great accomplishment. Over half the teams in the league make the playoffs, and if you finish 12 games under .500 I'm just not going to praise a team, or a player on that team, for making it. I mean, Vince and Tracy got their teams at least THAT many wins and simply getting into the playoffs did not make them great players.

It depends on what kind of talent the team has. Kobe barely missing the playoffs with Lamar Odom and Caron Butler isn't impressive. Iverson taking his awful teams to the playoffs was impressive (carried a team into the Finals with absolutely no complimentary scorer and a 34 yr old Mutombo as the 2nd best player).

Not sure why you keep harping on 35 wins, but any player taking an awful team into the playoffs is impressive. . .

as far as TMAC, the man was nothing short of incredible during his prime, and was able to win games with a team that featured DeClerq and later 39 year old Pat Ewing in the SL, as well as guys like Don Reid and Pat Garrity.

I'm not talking about a mediocre team barely making it into the playoffs, I'm talking about guys carrying below average/awful teams into the playoffs or guys taking mediocre teams into the conference finals/nba finals.

the amount of talent griffin has around him really diminshes the ability to compare his effect on the teams winning rate. By his psychological effect on the team is outstanding, they have him embraced him as 'the man' and look for him every time hes open. its paying off so i hope they keep doing it.

Have to disagree with you in regards to Shaq. During his prime as a Lakers, Shaq had a repetoire of post moves that weren't dunks.
