I'd prefer to keep the Brooklyn pick, and pick up a big man, and center a deal around Love for a McCollum/Beal type player.
Makes matching salaries easier, and allows us to keep Hill at the PG spot alongside two perimeter weapons.
I'm concerned that Love's value will be at an all time low after the playoffs end. He may be untradeable unless we're talking about George Hill Rodney Hood type of talent in return.
I agree with your logic, Love won't be very valuable this off-season, especially not with only a year left on his deal.
But Love for George works, sign-and-trade or straight up, doesn't matter. George diminished value as well since he's technically capable of doing whatever he wants, so Love for George does make a great deal of sense.
I also believe Love’s value dips based on this. Shoulder injury 3 years ago, concussion 2 years ago, thumb this year... Appears that he injures himself every other possession or so— always reaching at something it seems..
Coupled with that he looks overmatched on the low block (regardless of the matchup,) lacks aggression, physicality and really does not appear to be a guy you can ultimately count on offensively and we know he’s pretty useless as a defender in most spots..
Obviously will give you a good effort on the boards, can stretch the floor, and by all accounts is a good locker room guy (but no leader)
Former teammates at UCLA. 4th/5th pick respectively in the same draft. He does seem to be the kind of teammate you'd want with Russ, since he's not going to make any problems.
If Ty Lue is our coach next year though, we could clone 7 Ben Wallaces and we'd still suck at defense, so not a big issue there I guess.
