Best third round pick we've ever spent?
I looked back to the 60s and didn't see one of note...how depressing is that.Best third round pick we've ever spent?

With the experience our young core got this year along with a couple key additions, added to Williams scheme: I think a jump to the middle of the pack is a reasonable goal. Of course alot of that will depend on the offense also. Sustain some drives, give the defense a breather. I'm not expecting the '85 Bears, but a descent improvement should be within reach. We allowed 5.9 yards per play, which was good for 27/32 and 1/10 of a yard per play from being the worst.
We allowed the 2nd most yards per game.
We are 4th last in rush yards per attempt allowed.
We are 5th last in pass yards per attempt allowed.
3rd last in sack percentage.
In other words, the core is not complete. They are clearly too young, make too many mistakes, and lack the talent to win 1-on-1 match-ups in the front 7, and lack the talent to cover anyone.
Williams will help. Time and experience will help. Health will help. Garrett will help. BUT, let's not get crazy here. Let's shoot for some timely stops and turnovers, with a defense in the top half of the league in 2 years. Nothing wrong with "fun to watch," but make sure to have patience.
Daylon McCutcheonI looked back to the 60s and didn't see one of note...how depressing is that.
What were you expecting from him?
I'm not saying we've never made a good third round pick, but Collins is several tiers above those other guys listed.Ya... That Christian Kirksey guy sucks....
Shaun Lauvao is still a starting guard in the NFL. 6 years.
Chris Crocker had a solid NFL career
Daylon McCutcheon was good, albeit not for long.
If you're looking for HOFers, that's probably unfair.
Who do you think looked better?I guess I expected him to look like the best player on the defense, which admittedly may have been unfair for a player coming in mid-season. It's why I'm soliciting other opinions and observations on his performance while with the Browns.

He's an all pro LB and we for him for a 3rd round pick. That's an amazing trade
Kirksey. Ogbah finished the season strong too. Don't take that or below as me not wanting or trying to discredit Collins though. Pay the man. Btw...someone needs to start a 2017 offseason thread.Who do you think looked better?
