We also signed another kicker, Richardson i beleive.

He will be doing kickoffs, while Dawson does field goals.

is it really nessessary to have 2 kickers... i dont think so.. if a kicker cannot kick feildgoals and do kickoffs, drop him. i dont care if it is phildawson, drop him. isnt it hard to believe that dawson and mccucheon are the only 2 players left from the entire 99 season. earl little was aquired in like october of that season...

It is.

Dawson is a career 80+% FG kicker. He is one of the better ones in the league.

Special teams and field position are very important. Phil just doesnt have the leg to get the ball into the end zone on kick offs and to keep the opposing team out of that 30 yard line area.

This guy does, and will help our team alot.

haha yea.. i seem to remember dawson breaking his arm on special teams kick off return... but still in an age with a limited roster.. is 2 kickers really nessessary... there is 1 more back up d-lineman when others get tired.. ect. i dunno it seems to me to waste a roster spot on another kicker is a waste.. good points tho...

Look at it this way, Dawson is fairly accurate where Richardson may be not, its not like we signed Richardson for 5 million per year he was brought in to do certain things that Dawson can.

dawson can hit those FG's but he doesnt have the strength on the kickoffs.richardson is the punter we signed but im pretty sure the guy we signed name was something jones to like a 3 year deal.

well there is two players we dont exactly need that we have...
hopefully when they cut roster spots... two of them will hit the road...

We will only carry one punter, but they will most likely keep both kickers. They both signed long term deals and it is a smart idea.

Field position is a big part of the game, just look at the Baltimore game and Frost's great 7 yard punt.

regardless he did well throughout the year, but that punt...wow doesnt matter if he was in the endzone that was terrible and the interception by Reed iced it..
