The issue wasn't that the Tribe should have paid Bryan Shaw- the issue is that his production was not replaced. Expecting Zach McAlister to take his role was a classic example of the Peter principle; we knew Zach was effective as a 5th BP guy, not the 3rd. Maybe this latest draft was a sign that they are going to make necessary changes to finally start developing some BP arms internally.
 
Wow, allowed 6 runs last night but was only 1 accredited to Shaw because of a throwing error by...Bryan Shaw himself. Didn't know a pitcher's error counted the same as any other fielder in the earned/unearned stat
 
Shaw always whined about Indian fans being too mean to him

Curious what his thoughts on Rockies fans are
 
Shaw was very solid and consistent here. No way we should have paid him what he got, and I knew going to pitch in Colorado was going to be a disaster for him.
 
We ran him into the ground and squeezed every ounce out of that arm.

Got him paid though.

Was a win-win for both sides
