I wonder what this does for Karasev. Do we ask him to stay over on Russia for a year so that we can gain some extra cap space for a vet SF or do we want him here now for his shooting and to get him adjusted to NBA game and life ASAP

Team isn't going anywhere with Gee in the starting lineup. Can't get excited over signing a guy who hasn't played in a year and who plays a position that the team already had too many players at.

EDIT: People are crazy if they actually think Clark is a SF and especially one who will start at that spot.

Agreed on the Gee thing. They wont contend to come out of the east with a liability at the 3 spot. But the fact that a big name free agent chose to come to Cleveland is something to get excited about. Especially because that player has the potential to be the best center in the league (POTENTIAL, no one can argue his potential, we all know he is an injury liability). That is something to be excited about on a day where the WNBA made top plays on sportscenter.... This is news to talk about.

I should have known Bynum was coming. My knees have been sore all day............

Dark horse contenders? Cavaliers basketball is on the come up! Just hope everybody is ready for the bandwagon fans who'll say they've been a Cavs fan for years...SMH!

Posted this in the old thread...

If Bynum is 100%, he's unstoppable in the paint. Next best thing to Howard (and potentially better). And he's got a nasty streak that'll guarantee him multiple suspensions. I don't mind this in the regular season. Kyrie could use an enforcer.

But let's be realistic: things go well, this is a fifty-win team in the East; worst case, Cavs are trotting out a Jack/Waiters/Clark/Thompson/Zeller starting lineup, and staring at a mid-to-high lottery pick. I'm excited and scared shitless.

YES!!!

Bynum/Andy on the same roster should be enough to keep the clinic busy for the foreseeable future I would think.

What would it take for the Cavs to retain Bynum and sign a SF to a max level deal next offseason?

(post is mostly in response to Wine & Gold, but thread was closed)

If you are talking about signing a 10+ year vet SF to a $20+ million max next year, here is my post from the safari:

If the Cavs:

Cut Varejao, Gee, Felix, any undrafted scrubs
Decline option for Zeller, Clark
Trade away or draft and stash 1st round pick

The cap situation would be:

Jack $5,968,750 Guaranteed
Bennett $5,563,920 Guaranteed
Karasev $1,533,840 Guaranteed
Varejao $4,000,000 Guaranteed
Irving $7,070,730 Team Option
Thompson $5,138,430 Team Option
Waiters $4,062,000 Team Option
Bynum $12,000,000 Team Option

4 Minimum Holds $2,000,000

$47,337,670

Around $11.7 million cap room. They would have to trade Varejao, Bennett, or Jack and decline to pick up Waiters and/or Thompson. Whatever combination of those to clear $9 million in cap. Two (or three) of those 5 guys would have to go.

To put this into perspective, Andy V. is coming off the bench behind Bynum. We could also go even bigger and have them on the floor at the same time.

Say what you want about Andy but he was the best big in the East to start the season last year before he got injured. This could be unbelievable. You could have Andy run a pick with Kyrie and just have Bynum camped out on the block. Unstoppable.

I hope this guy gets healthy.

Are people reading what is being said about Bynum's knees? He's not starting.
