Re: Bynum Suspended

If Bynum just quit then why was he suspended (or reported to be) for conduct detrimental to the team?

Re: Bynum Suspended

Am I the only one that liked him? To me, with the exception of the Pistons game, it seemed like something good happened when we passed him the ball (shot, foul, etc), even if it did slow down our offense.

There's more to the game than just offense, and he was being inefficient on that end anyways. The guy can barely move, he's a huge liability on defense.

Re: Bynum Suspended

He quit. I'm fine with it. He was hurting us more than helping us.

I agree, the experiment was over weeks ago.

The major problem I have is that this year has been a mess not only on the court, but this is now the 2nd incident that has emerged of conduct behind the scenes. We're only 1/3 the way through. We have the 2nd youngest team in the league, trying to win so we can attract a big name FA this offseason - but we're really looking much more like a tanking team. Even though Bynum may have been part of the problem, I can't see how this year has played out thus far reflects well on our FO attempt to build a winning culture.

Re: Bynum Suspended

I bet he got frustrated with the amount of touches and lack of playing time. His recently play hasn't warranted it, but we are talking about Andrew Bynum here. If he doesn't really love the game, he is not succeeding, it is hard to play the game.

He probably skipped practice or missed the team flight.

So they could cover it up.

Wondering the same thing. I guess the manner in which he quit could've been suspension-worthy.

Well quitting is detrimental to the team. If he's suspended they can still deal his contract. Not sure if you can trade retired players anymore under this new CBA. I'm just happy the team can move on now. It was getting painful watching Bynum out there on the court.

I'm assuming he decided to skip the flight yesterday without speaking to the team. So Grant had to suspend him.

Re: Bynum Suspended

I actually really like Bynum, but his role had to be on the bench for us. Then we use him for 18 minutes a game, and in situations where he can dominate someone you play him 30 minutes. Starting him, was setting him up to fail IMO. Oh well, ultimately I think we are a better team without him starting and maybe even playing at all.

Re: Bynum Suspended

This is good, we can develop an identity with the options we have. Everyone was confused and we played two different brands of ball when Bynum was on / off the court.

Re: Bynum Suspended

And in other news we will be able to see how we look without him very soon as we play in about an hr. Forgot about the 1pm start today.

Re: Bynum Suspended

He wasn't really helping us, but that means Mike is going to be leaning on Andy even more now and you can just feel the injury coming.

The best part about Bynum's presence is that at least it acted as a limit on the amount of minutes Andy saw each night. That is out the window now.

Re: Bynum Suspended

This could look like the Pau Gasol trade for us. Since his contract amounts to a big fat expiring, we're going to get a lot of interest. Heck I could see the Bulls taking his contract on for Deng or maybe a guy that isn't expiring. Asik could be back in the picture even though I for one really wouldn't want him.

Also, Bill Simmons has an interesting series of tweets about potential trade destinations (Clips/Heat). I know he isn't popular on this board though :)

Re: Bynum Suspended

Does this mean Bennett finally gets a chance to play?
