Carmelo Anthony likely to go

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm not an expert on trades or anything so I'm wondering: Do the Nuggets have to trade Melo to one of the teams on this "list"? Couldn't they instead trade him to the team that is offering the best package? Then again the teams on the list will probably be offering the best package. I think it is just wrong that a player can produce a fucking list of teams he would like to be traded to when he is still under contract.

The players have way too much power right now.

If Melo hints he doesn't want to extend to that team, that team won't be offering anything for a 1-year rental.

Also, players really don't have a lot of power. Denver could just say no and let him walk when his contract is up. If he decides to tank or not play, they can just not pay him. It's not like he has a gun to their head. Not only that, but if Denver wants to be spiteful and bad business people, but "stick it to him", they can damn well trade him to Minnesota or Memphis for a draft pick or two. THAT would be worth a one-year rental, even if he decides to go half-assed for most of the season, although he probably wouldn't because he wouldn't want to give out the impression of being that sort of player going into Free Agency.

If McGrady and young Yao didn't work, why would Melo and old Yao?

Heres the difference.

Tracy McGrady
Yao Ming
Jim Jackson
Mike James
David Wesley
Bob Sura
Juwan Howard
Maurice Taylor
Jon Barry
Tyronn Lue
Charlie Ward
Scott Padgett
Dikembe Mutombo
Clarence Weatherspoon
Bostjan Nachbar
Reece Gaines
Andre Barrett
Rod Strickland
Ryan Bowen
Moochie Norris
Torraye Braggs
Vin Baker
Brandin Knight

2010 Rockets: (???)
Aaron Brooks
Kyle Lowry
Kevin Martin
Courtney Lee
Shane Battier
Chase Budinger
Luis Scola
Patrick Patterson
Jordan Hill
Chuck Hayes
Yao Ming
Brad Miller
Jermaine Taylor
Jared Jeffries

The McGrady teams were one dimensional because, frankly, the team was full of scrubs, has beens or never was's.

The current team is much much deeper even if they have to give up 3-4 quality players for Carmelo. This is why so many people have a man crush on Daryl Morey because of how quickly and effectively he overhauled the team.

I'm all for players controlling their destiny and choosing what teams they want to play for. It holds the front office accountable. If they don't establish a championship caliber team, when free agency comes around the player will leave. Sounds pretty good to me

Question: In the event of a lockout can't players just go play overseas? The NBA is not the only league around. If the NBA slips up FIBA can take over and establish a hold on the market.
No, the NBA and other leagues have an agreement. Only the FA will have the ability to go overseas and play, since they wouldn't be under contract with any NBA team.

Just like players who are overseas can't come to the NBA if they are under contract with a club. They will have to be bought out or be a FA.

Early word around NBA is Nuggets will try to trade Carmelo to 1 of 3 teams: Wolves, Kings, Nets. In other words, careful what you wish for.

Good for the Nuggets.

Glad to see a team taking a stand against the primadonna act. Send him to the T'Wolves. That is the only fitting place.

J.J. Hickson, Ramon Sessions, Anthony Parker (EXP), Jamario Moon (EXP), Leon Powe (EXP), 2010 first rounder, 2011 first rounder, future 2nd round pick for Carmelo.

DO IT GRANT!

I think it's time to trade Jamison or Mo to Denver for a 1st round pick in next years draft because either way you look at it, Melo looks like he wants out. Extra lotto pick. Lol.

I would do it if I were Denver's GM. Fuck it, a mediocre offer from the Wolves or some shitty team like that would basically be just as good as the best offer from the teams atop his "list" (New York presumably and maybe Orlando but I'm pretty convinced at this point that they're going to strike out on every potential name until they get desperate enough to give Arenas a shot:chuckles:).

Unless Houston comes in with the "godfather offer" of Brooks+Hill+NYK 2012 1st+Kevin Martin+expirings for Billups/Melo/K-Mart, ship the motherfucker to Minnesota to play with Darko.

I want to see an owner based initiative to say tell these primadonna bitches FUCK YOU. Like, Carmelo becomes a FA, no one signs him. No one offers him a contract. He can go play in Europe or rot in hell.

I want to see the NBA take the hit to get rid of some bullshit, and bring back the game. Every year Stern has kept making sure that more and more fans quit watching the NBA, and more and more 12 year olds watch the playoffs.

I guess it's all revenue. I've just never thought that it was a brilliant idea to piss off the loyal people who continually buy your brand. It's one thing to appeal to a new market, it's another to say fuck the old market.

Guess Stern has been taking some business lessons from LeCunt.

If there's one player that's being overhyped right now it's Noah. He's a small upgrade over Varejao, nothing more, yet the media keep hyping him up to be a threat to Dwight.

If they get Carmelo fucking Anthony for Noah, it'll be the most one-sided trade in recent years.

He's an upgrade over Varejao and he's still getting better. Varejao isn't. And actually having a decent center is kind of important when you have to go through Dwight, Perk/JON, & Gasol/Bynum to win a title.
