If the Browns want to make a turnaround offensively, then they have to eliminate some of the turnovers.
It's no more complicated than that, says second-year offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon.
"I found out during my years in this league that if you do not win the turnover ratio, it is hard to win football games," Carthon said before Friday's training camp practice.
"I can only think of one team that was minus in the turnover ratio and went on to win the Super Bowl, and that was the St. Louis Rams (in 1999). But that was only one time in however many Super Bowls there have been (40). I always have remembered that, and I try to show our players that stat when the teams in plus turnovers are usually teams that are in the playoffs.
"My main thing always is turnovers. It is kind of hard to play defense when the other offense is getting the ball on the plus-30 or the plus-20 and things like that. We have got to eliminate those things, and if we do, I think we will have a chance to win games this year."
