Rosters are mostly set. No games have been played but we mostly know who will be bad, who will be good, and will be fighting for the 8th seed come the ASB.
First order of business is determining who the Cavs have worth trading for. i.e. players who teams would be calling about. I see the following players as having positive value when considering production, contract, and age
Kevin Love
Andre Drummond
Larry Nance Jr.
Kevin Porter Jr.
Collin Sexton
Isaac Okoro
Darius Garland
Cedi Osman
Dante Exum
For the sake of brevity (and realism), we will remove Okoro, Nance, and Sexton. Okoro is a rookie and culture piece. By all accounts, Nance will finish his career in Cleveland and is a culture guy who likes playing here. Sexton is a Dan guy and can be penciled in for 25 PPG (it doesn't appear Garland will make him expendable). It's almost guaranteed that trading Sexton will multiple years left on his deal with end with the Cavs taking a bath on the trade. This leaves the Cavs with:
Kevin Love
Andre Drummond
Kevin Porter Jr.
Darius Garland
Cedi Osman
Dante Exum
All these players have warts in one way or another. However, they do offer something, warts and all:
Love - champion pedigree, high level rebounding, a quality shooting big
Drummond - one of the better centers in a league bereft of quality centers, rebound vacuum
KPJ - supremely talented guard with all-star potential, great size and athleticism
Garland - natural playmaking PG with great shooting potential
Osman - glue guy wing, particularly on offense. great passer, good spot up shooter. 3 and D, without the D.
Exum - veteran PG with size. can ball handle and guard both 1s and 2s.
