What’s the chance the Cavs may a play for Oladipo? It’s pretty well known that Gilbert preferred Oladipo in the draft. I‘d have to think Indy would be motivated to move him. I would assume he could be had for pretty cheap given his contract situation. I know he’s probably not going to be that happy in Cleveland, but even still I might roll the dice if the price was good. Even though it’s possible he leaves at the end of the year, if you can acquire him without trading Nance, Love, Sexton, or #5, it might be worth a shot.
Who says no?
Drummond
Cedi
Exum
For
Oladipo
Turner
Leaf
Would chip in some 2nds if needed or even the MIL pick.
For Indy to do this, they would basically have to believe they can/will be a player in FA next year. Indy remains competitive with Drummond, but by moving Turner they potentially could go into 2021 FA with Brogdan, Sabonis, Lamb, Warren, and Cedi under contract and $40-$45 mill in cap room. Given Brogdan’s relationship with Giannis, it could be an intriguing option for him If you slide Sabonis to C.
Cavs take a chance with Oladipo but get a long-term solution at C in Turner, who happens to fit extremely well with Love and Nance. In the draft you take either Okoro, Ball, Vassell or Haliburton. Okoro would seem to be the obvious guy if he‘s there.
PG: Sexton, Garland
SG: Oladipo, Windler
SF: Okoro, KPJ
PF: Love, Nance, Leaf
C: Turner, Nance
Would then look to sign a vet PG and probably a guy that’s a 3/4 type player. Since Drummond could potentially walk as well, I would just look at it as two separate trades to a degree: Oladipo for Drummond and Cedi and Exum for Turner and Leaf. Even if Oladipo leaves, they‘d have around $20-$25 mill or so to find a replacement in free agency.
