But that's veteran savy from Chauncey... He's an intelligent player in that regard.. We don't have anyone that can do that..

Chauncey orchestrated the game beautifully down the stretch... It really shows how a GOOD PG can win you games... He ran into Z and jerked his head back... 2 made FT's....

He penetrated into the lane and found McDyess twice in the final moments... And he made two clutch baseline jumpers..

We don't have that on this team.. We have a one man team, and that being LeBron James, who sometimes chooses to attack but likes to shoot more perimeter shots, and more times than not will indeed choke at the FT line while the game is hanging in the balance.This is not an isolated incident from LeBron.. We've seen him choke several times throughout his career, and I think most of us come to expect it late in games.... Chauncey did not choke...

PG was the difference..

Also didn't hurt that they have a guy that can use his low post game.. Rasheed has an all around back to the basket game... He doesn't have that 2 or 3 dribble, and then sling a wild hook shot and pray that it goes in... Sheed got his positioning and didn't travel (Z travels all the damn time).. Sheed worked his way down for turnaround jumpers..

Beautiful basketball down the stretch by a real team.... Notice how they didn't just isolate one player at the top of the key with high screens...

I disagree about the PG because I thought Rasheed was more the actual difference btw the two team. Everyone will moan about Lebron missing the FT's but in the end everything goes back to average and his FT's ended up at 9/11 which is pretty much what he's been shooting since he improved his form. Plus, it's only ONE possession.

I did like we actually changed the play around at the end and ran a pick and roll where Lebron was setting the pick. I really wish this would be done with Lebron setting the pick for Sasha and/or Boobie: our two guys who can actually hit the jumper.

In any case, our lack of a banger who can defend has become glaring against both Miami with Shaq and Detroit with Rasheed. I'd love for us to bring in PJ Brown this offseason

I'm going to have to disagree with that, although I understand the difference down the stretch in terms of low post play from Sheed.. But Chauncey got them into that offense, and he single handedly killed the Cavs run... His back to back baskets, and his passing was the dagger..

I love how the Pistons isolate Sheed on the post with Billups on the outside, and the 3 other Pistons on the weakside of the floor...

You have to honor Chauncey's shooting and driving ability.. Thus, it leaves Sheed one on one with any of our below average low post defenders... Conversely, on the other end, LeBron and Z tried to do a bit of the same, but Sheed cheated over on LeBron, and left Z open for a baseline corner jumper... In which he missed....

Not saying Billups didn't make plays (the jumper he hit with Hughes all over him was killer) but when he runs a pick and roll we can't afford to leave the guy setting the pick as they all can hit the jumper even there bigs. On the other hand he didn't look like he was a mismatch: what caused us problems was trying to matchup with Sheed who did cause mismatches all over the place. (Again PJ Brown is a UFA this year)

I'd love to see what a guy like Suanders would do with our players. I have a feeling it would be a lot more posting up with James (similar to what they do with Prince) and a lot more pick and rolls where Lebron sets picks for guys like Sasha/Boobie as they both stretch the D. Then I'd bet he'd leave Z/Gooden downlow for the offensive board.

Sorry, but I just don't see us with much energy for this one. The Pistons are rested and will be in playoff mode. We've just been too inconsistent lately to expect much to change. Of course I hope I'm wrong...

Game went pretty much as I expected. Kiss that 2 seed goodbye now...

This team just doesn't have the heart of a championship contender. They are just too inconsistent and can't decide when they really want to turn it on.

If they continue to play like this in the playoffs I fully expect them to lose to the Heat in 5 games. We just can't play halfcourt basketball with them. And with Wade returning to the lineup it will be the final straw mentally before the series even starts. To say I'm pissed about these developments would be a vast understatement... damnit, sometimes watching this team feels like a kick to the nuts.
