CLEVELAND CAVALIERS’ BENCH

SAN ANTONIO SPURS’ BENCH

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS’ NOTES

The Cavaliers must quickly understand what type of defenses the Spurs will throw at LeBron and counter immediately. Various looks will be given to James, so like in the Detroit series, the Cavaliers need to make the right choices against these schemes.

Tim Duncan handles double teams and passes out of them well. Cleveland will have to decide either to let Tim Duncan get his and try to limit the perimeter scorers as much as possible, or play things according to the situation, in which both Duncan and the perimeter players will put up numbers.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS’ NOTES

The Spurs need to have Tim Duncan post and repost as much as necessary, with the wing players attacking Cleveland's defense to make this possible. Force Cleveland to decide against being hurt more by the interior or perimeter game.

San Antonio needs to simply keep their composure and see if Cleveland gets rattled early. A major Spurs run could force Cleveland to play catch up for the rest of the game.

OVERVIEW

On Thursday, Cleveland will step into unchartered waters against an experienced team in the San Antonio Spurs. Cleveland needs to remain confident and not get caught up in admiring the Spurs too much. Coach Brown said it best after winning the Eastern Conference Finals, Cleveland is playing to win. So it's not about staying close and gaining respect. It's all about winning.

Beat ya Ben!!!

Game Notes:

· The Cavaliers will be making their first-ever appearance in the NBA Finals. Cleveland has won three straight games against the Spurs in the regular season.
· LeBron James averaged 25.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 8.5 assists in the conference finals against Detroit. He became just the fourth player in NBA history to average at least 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in a conference finals series. The other players were Oscar Robertson (1963), John Havlicek (1968) and Larry Bird (1986).
· Daniel Gibson has averaged 21.0 points on .565 shooting including 7-12 (.583) from three-point range over the past three games. He has made 30-33 (.909) from the free throw line during that stretch.
· LeBron James has seven double-doubles during the 2007 Playoffs. He is tied with Brad Daugherty (1992 Playoffs) for the most double-doubles in a single playoff season.
· With six points in Game 1 of the Finals, LeBron James would surpass Mark Price for most playoff points scored by a Cavalier. Price holds the record with 818 points in 47 games. Game 1 will be James’ 30th career postseason game.
· Defense
· LeBron James has dished out at least seven assists in 15 of 16 playoff games this season. He ranks fifth in the postseason in assists per game (8.3). Over his last three games, James has averaged 31.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.

:faint:

Still cant believe we are in the Finals. It all happened so quickly in the end (30+ years has flown by).

Pumped for the tipoff!

I dunno if its this game, or Game #2, but I DO KNOW that we are going to win ONE OF THEM. Period!

A must win..

Spurs are punks like the Pistons. Look at what happened to Steve Nash. Bloodied his nose and nailed him in the groin. They must be put down, like Detroit was.

Bronny is not done Dunkin on Timmy...

Bruce Bowen's defense is fierce....

Its too bad we don't have another Pollard in case they start to act up. I don't think one can get it done with all the heads that will need to be cracked.

I guess Nash got his nose bloodied from a head butt with Parker, but Horry is a bitch for this one...
