Cavs Trade Joe Harris to Orlando

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There are literally maybe 3-5 teams in the league that matter(have any shot at all at reaching or winning the Finals)

What the Spurs, Warriors or us for that matter have done against the other 25-27 teams counts but does not give me any basis to fear either team.

Agreed, there are three teams competing for the finals. OKC has the talent, but we haven't seen them play at the level of Warriors, Spurs, or even the Cavs.

I can not see any evidence or basis to suggest that "the Spurs WOULD crush us" Regardless of how this 4 game road trip against 4 separate teams plays out
Your aforementioned statement does nothing to warrant this contention. Spurs are playing at a level defensively that has rarely been seen in NBA history. Add to that they have an incredibly efficient offense, which rarely falters, and they are better than us on paper.

Why is that? First, they have both an offensive and defensive system. We clearly have an effective form for the latter, but there is no system for the former. Zero.

But secondly, the Spurs provide problematic matchups for us. You need good post defenders to stop them from scoring easily in the post. Mozgov is alright, but he is nowhere near the level he was last season (see my article on that here - http://sportsbystats.com/2016/01/07...-hope-to-compete-with-the-best-in-the-league/). On top of that, Kawhi has always been able to contain Lebron better than any other NBA player. This means Kyrie and Love need to do the majority of the offensive heavy lifting. I have complete faith that Kyrie could average 40/10 against the Spurs, but Love will also need to get significant opportunities in the post, which I've written about and it is currently not happening (http://rcfsports.com/2016/01/02/can-the-cavaliers-find-their-offense-in-2016/).

Thankfully for us, the post-season does not start today. I ultimately believe we have the potential to figure this out. The reason these next four games are important is because they let us demonstrate how we react to challenges posed to us by the best teams in the NBA. I was thrilled with our first game against the Warriors. It demonstrated our defense against them in the finals was no fluke. But we've got a long way to go before we can compete with the Spurs. I don't base that on their Net Rating or point differential, I base it on the multiple times I've watched San Antonio this season. Unless we get Love involved more and Moz finds the "old Moz," the Spurs are the better team. Thankfully, as I keep repeating, that is only right now, and we can absolutely fix it.

I'll keep it short and simple. We have yet to play the Spurs in our two separate regular season matchups let alone in the dynamic of a 7 game playoff series.

You may have watched the Spurs a lot this season. You may have watched the Cavs a lot. There have been zero opportunities yet to watch the two teams matchup together.

So regardless of how well they're doing or how we perceive matchups, there is no basis to make a statement as thick and cocksure as: the Spurs would crush us right now.

Agreed, it's why I think your statement that:

is blatantly false :chuckle:

But there is, dude. Your logic is literally identical to saying "the Cavs haven't played the Kings so far, so there is no legitimate reason to say the Kings couldn't beat us." The Spurs are playing at a much higher level than we are right now. I don't understand why that is so hard to understand. Add to that they have the best "Lebron stopper" in the NBA on their team. Logically I see no way our inconsistent offense (which, at its best, is far and away the best in the NBA) can stick with their defense. They'll grind us out very similar to how a worse Spurs team grinded out the Heat in the 2013-14 finals.

Absolutely no reason at all, except that it would simply benefit the Cleveland Cavaliers and we just want to spark up a very unlikely safari.

These young bloods are about as likely to start a good safari as Lance Bass is likely to become an astronaut.

How Safaris Start

1. Someone credible tweets a trade scenario.

2. Ben posts something really, really vague.

3. A thread goes from page one to page 25 in a half hour.

4. Someone takes a blurry cell phone picture of a tall dude walking out of a gas station bathroom, claims it was an NBA player taking a shit in Strongsville.

5. Safari achieved.

When did he even get injured? I didn't even know of that until reading about the trade. I will miss him, when he came in the game it was a sign of a blowout and more often than not it was in the Cavs favor

Have we not yet learned that regular season means absolutely nothing when it comes to the playoffs and a 7 game series?

Bill Cowher is going to be the head coach of the Browns?!

I would also accept a blurry picture of a 300 pound black man eating at The Cheesecake Factory.

We really need a new safari thread now. I miss those (sometimes).

Max is also incredibly good at vague posts starting firestorms. It is quite impressive.

Romeo Crennel is being brought back as coach???

How does that deal work? We trade three things, and get one thing back, of value equal to ONE of the things we gave a way. Subtracting the second-round picks from both sides of the equation, we gave up Harris and cash for NOTHING. How is that a legal trade?

Edit: I understand how it BENEFITS us, but I don't understand how it works out, in terms of assets/salaries.
