The best perimeter defenders against point guards and shooting guards have been guys like Jeff Greene, Cedi, and Lebron (when he chooses to be engaged). They've done a better job stopping penetration and closing out on 3 point shots than guys like JR, Crowder, and definitely Calderon. All 3 have shown the ability to use their length to play back a step, they've used excellent position to squelch drives to the hoop and they've contested the outside shots enough to bother and disrupt shooters.This. Cedi is really more of a SF in terms of size/quickness and will have trouble with PGs
We don't have a single player on the roster who can stick with the few lightning quick penetrating guards in the league. Not Shump, not JR, definitely not Crowder. Our longer players who have some quickness are the only ones who have had success. Really there are hardly any defenders in the whole league who can stop the quickest penetrating guards one on one. It takes team defense to do that.
