I actually like Cedi but my expectations have tempered greatly with him. I thought he had the potential to be a starter on a playoff team but now I see roleplayer
The rest of the team outside of Nance I hate with the passion and that pretty much includes the FO
Come on- You don't hate Delly, do you?
But I completely agree with the Cedi assessment. I was very curious to see what we would get when he was no longer an energy guy off the bench and became a starter that opponents game planned against in advance.
I think it's clear at this point of the season that Cedi is still good in transition. He's skilled enough that you can't completely slack off him on defense. But it's also clear that he lacks the ability to break down a set defense that is ready for him. He's not horrible on offense, but he's never going to be a first, second or third option. That's was a bit disappointing, but not really unexpected.
What is more troubling is that opposing offenses have learned how to regularly exploit him on defense. Cedi is liability when defending starting NBA talent for an extended period of time. Last year he was great when he did like Miley Cyrus and came in like a wrecking ball. His defense is just not acceptable for an NBA starter who lacks the ability to create his own shot. Could be coaching this year that is hurting his defense or it could be why he couldn't earn any playoff minutes last spring. Cedi can't be anything more on an average NBA team than an energy 7th man until he improves his defense.
