Channing Frye

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean Frye is somehow actually a solid rim protector and on ball defender against big's but when you play GS your big's have to be solid VS guards as well and closing out to the perimeter and from what I remember he was extremely forgettable in that aspect. Dude still had an amazing playoffs tho but there's no surprise him and Love we're neuralized VS GS. To be a big VS GS yo have to have quick feet and score. Frye just didn't have it that series. And that's cool. The only players we really NEEDED to be effective for every single series were JR Kyrie and Bron and TT. IMO they all were. Dudes like Frye, and Love space the floor wether they shoot 9/10 or 1/10 so it doesn't matter if they actually hit

It was overlooked since we rolled through the East, but TT wasn't very effective against Detroit and Toronto.

He was awesome against Atlanta and Golden State though. Basically, if you're not LeBron and Kyrie, it all comes down to favorable match ups.

Byombo and drummond rolled tt. He's great for his size, but he's a small ball center. Against taller, old school guys, he is not an answer.

How many games does Detroit win last post season if we aren't hacking drummond? The rule change could kill us

We have no one to match up with Drummond now, TT too short, Love too short and unathletic, Frye too weak. Fortunately we do match up well with the rest of their lineup.

Despite the sweep, I felt like Detroit was our second toughest series last year, after Golden State. Not scared of Toronto at all this year since they lost Biyombo.

Thankfully Drummond does a great job of stopping himself with his absolutely mind-bogglingly bad free throw shooting.

Has a team ever won a playoff series when their best player can't even hit 1/3 of their free throws (Drummond was 32.4% in the playoffs on over 8 FTA per game)?

I just don't think a team with a free throw shooter that bad can ever seriously contend unless they change the rules. It's just a black hole when you can basically give up an estimated .64 points per possession in any tight spots. That's just horrendous

Tristan did a good job guarding Drummond against Detroit, no? Mozgov had the lowest Net Rating against Detroit in the playoffs. I think everyone is overestimating Moz's ability to "guard Drummond" because of his size. He was absolute trash all season and could not guard anyone in the pick-and-roll, which is conveniently where Drummond excels at.

If memory serves me correctly both Tristan and Kevin Love had no issue with Andre Drummond. Love in particular made life a living hell for Andre.

Exactly. I would agree that TT has had issues with Drummond in the past, but after the first couple of games this year, he adjusted and started almost negating him. I was really proud of the wayhe played Drummon ni the playoffs. Another good example of TT's attention to detail and good prep. He keeps getting better defensively.

Biyombo was a different story and he took advantage because he was ignored by the defense. Biyombo is arguably a more unusual specimen than Drummond and could easily be the best small center in the league if he continues to improve. He is fast longer and stronger than Tristan. Tristan was able to corral him, but only after trying a whole bunch of things.

He's been excused from the team for personal matters. Not playing tonight.

His mother passed away from cancer. I feel bad for the guy.
