Channing Frye

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It makes me sad that Channing is 33. If he were 28-29, I truly believe he could become one of the most prolific three-point shooters of all-time on this team as currently constructed.

At times, they look more like free throws than threes. I've never had the feeling of confidence for any player on any team the way I do when Frye gets squared up. He's automatic.

The crazy thing is that we have him on a team already blessed with JR Smith, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Mike Dunleavy, James Jones ...

In terms of sheer volume, does this team have the best group of pure shooters ever? Hard to think of one that challenges it. The Warriors have the top-end talent, but not the volume.

  • God I just wish he had a little more agility to him. He gets killed in PnRs but he's pretty solid as a post up defender and weakside shot blocker.

Imagine how great our bench could be if we had a shot blocking big who can help out when Frye gets burnt.

He's taking 4.3 wide open threes a game and making 55.9% of them.

He's shooting 50% on all catch and shoot threes.

Lastly, he's shooting 86% on threes when the shot clock is about to expire.

25 ppg with 6.4 threes made per game per 36 minutes.

Great teammate as well from the very first game. Love it.

Crazy how the warriors game planned to not let him be out on the court

That's how good he is

His post up game is good too from what I seen. He could post up KD all day

Yes.

The thing about Channing which is so good is, he isn't just a 3 point shooter. He can post-up smaller dudes and score over them. He can take a dribble and shoot. Offensively, he is very good. Like with Love, his PnR defense is poor but in terms of help defense and post-up defense, he is good. I don't think he can really improve the PnR defense because PnR defense is a lot about quickness and first step which is something Frye doesn't have. But the thing which he needs to and can improve is his rebounding. We give away some offensive rebounds when Frye is on the floor. If boxes out better, it would be a massive boost!

LeBron's favorite target. I don't know if he has ever had a more favorite target to be honest. I've never seen him feed a player like he has with Frye. If they are on the floor together, there is a guarantee LeBron is trying to find Frye for a shot. Frye has been automatic from three and making himself a real 6th Man of the Year candidate.

I remember him feeding Z a ton with those pick and pops.

Is there a site to see who leads the baskets in LeBron's assists?

If this man was say 23 I'm sure someone would give him close to 100 million

Thank you whoever traded him to us for nothing

Drafts have been ass anyway. Don't need any pick past around 8.

Even tho Wiggins did drop 47 the other day:gtfo2:

Mike Miller in the Miami years definitely had that same feeling. Mostly in 2012 during the lead up and winning of the title over OKC. Probably more pronounced now as Lebron plays inside out more often - he only did that when he absolutely had to in Miami.

In reference to offensive rebounding and scoring, @priceFTW how does a big line up of TT, Frye, Love, KI, LBJ compare to other line ups?

I find it interesting that Channing Frye coming to the Cavs has had the same level of impact as Birdman going to the Heatles. Funny thing is they're completely opposite as players.

One interesting observation though. LeBron had never played with a big that provided the vertical spacing that Birdman did. He could go up and get higher lobs any high flying big Lebron has played with (including Hickson and TT) so bigs had to stay more attached to him than normal and you couldn't put a wing on him because he'd jam it over them on PnR's.

In Frye's case Lebron has never played with a big that's able to shoot with such a high quick release like Channing. Bosh and Love all have slow wind-up releases while Channing is locked and loaded and it's in the hoop by the time you blink. Bigs have to stay attached to him more than normal and you can't put a wing on him because he'll shoot over them on PnP's.

It's really delightful and his defensive impact is truly underrated. Great communicator, not as soft on the boards as advertised (could go harder, but hey at least he's no Bosh level rebounder), and is better at using his length to disrupt shots than I realized he would be when Griffin got him.

A1 acquisition who's only getting better as he gets more of a green light and settles into this role. Don't forget he was easily the third most important player on that fun Suns team in 2014-15 that hit 50 wins featuring Dragic and Bledsoe.

Totally agree. Plus on the Bosh comparison, he only started dabbling in shooting the 3 for most of the Heat years. 12-13 was 1 attempt a game at .284, 13-14 was 2.8 attempts at .339. He did shoot much better in the playoffs both those years (.405) but the 3 point shooting Bosh we think of didn't truly emerge until after Lebron left. That's when his attempts went to around 4/gm and he made 37%.

So even though Bosh gave great floor spacing he never provided anything like what Frye has been able to bring -high volume, high percentage 3P range that defenses have to respect.
