Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Indians wanted a Sale return in a sense, while the teams really only offered a mid tier starting pitcher offer. I am sure the best offer was from the Dodgers since it was talked about for longer than the others, with and without Gomes, but no came close enough to truly make the deal done. My guess is they came a top 5 organization prospect less than the Indians wanted. I think the top prospect, an MLB ready player and another prospect or two was offered, but those other prospects weren’t the top 5 guy they wanted.

Penny pinching Indians accused of character assassination by one Trevor Bauer. Trevor hasn't let anything go since he was probably 12. This type of shit will hang around all year.

Time to say goodbye. Get your value in return.

That's kind of an oversimplification of what the article said.

I don't see this being an issue.

Here is the article for those interested.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...uer-cleveland-indians-arbitration/2869671002/

Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer, who won his arbitration case for $13 million, said he enjoyed the process until the final 10 minutes in which he accused the Indians’ representatives of presenting a “character assassination" against him.

Bauer insists that he doesn’t have ill-will towards the Cleveland organization, but even though the front office wasn’t in the arbitration hearing, doesn’t quite excuse them, either.

...

But that’s the game they play. “Not 'they’ as in anyone specifically, but for a long time, that’s how it’s been done in arbitration. The higher-ups on the team don’t go. They have lawyers argue the case for them.

"That’s the game they play. 'It wasn’t us. We didn’t say that. We still like you as a player.'"

The financial risk of taking year-to-year contracts coupled with someone who has admitted to being slow to fit in/feel comfortable.

Clearly an intelligent guy but that has never made a whole lot of sense to me.

The whole bit about the Indians trying to paint giving to charity as a bad thing smells like a bunch of bullshit. For a guy who gets credited for being so intellectual, Bauer comes off like a petty little kid... often.

I need more information about what questions/statements were made during the whole "character assassination" conversation.

If its about his social media activity and all that I have no problem, but if its about his playing around drones and other risking endeavors, then yeah I have a problem with it and glad they called him out on it...

Trevor a cool guy and all but I still can't get over 2016 and how he did have a huge impact on the WS and really could have helped us if it wasn't for his finger being chopped off.

He accused the Indians of calling him a horrible human being. Sounds like he's just playing it off and taking the high road.....for now

I am not sure Trevor has ever taken the high road. I like him allot, but taking the high road is not one of his strong points, lol.

It sounds like Harper and Machado may finally be close to signing somewhere. It will be interesting to see if it creates any movement with other free agents.

Marwin Gonzalez and Mike Moustakas are still unsigned, as are Adam Jones, Carlos Gonzalez, Josh Harrison, Derek Dietrich, Denard Span, and others.

As for relievers, Ryan Madson, AJ Ramos, Nick Vincent, Bud Norris, Adam Warren, and Tony Sipp, among others, are still unsigned.

Would you be willing to give Marwin a 4 year contract? I am thinking he will get a one or two year contract, but I wonder if we can add more years for cheap or not.

With the way the Indians organization is currently run, I'm not giving 30 year old Marwin Gonzalez a 4 year deal unless it is incredibly cheap. I'd give him 1-2 years for decent money however.
