Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
They have the best rotation in baseball, so if we can get the bullpen straightened out, we are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs. If anything we are an underdog again in the playoffs and not just may be the best thing for us!

In all honesty, the Indians' chances come down to health and performance from Lindor/Ramirez. If Ramirez (and, to a lesser degree, Frankie) disappear again in October, it's a wrap. Kluber is also important here, but they may actually be able to get away with him not pitching well because of the other four options.

Simply put, if:

1) Lindor/Ramirez hit to their potential in October
2) The rotation stays healthy
3) We add one reliable late-inning reliever or one emerges (Edwards?)

The Indians are absolutely World Series contenders. But you probably need all three to happen.

Fear not, social media warriors will shit on the Browns just as much if they repeat the Indians regular success and follow it up with similar postseasons.

Doubt it. The Browns always get the benefit of the doubt by the majority of the fans in Cleveland. They’re the favorite child.

Do the Indians get unnecessarily shit on? Yes.

Do they play in a bad division? Yes.

Personally, I don't think Lloyd intended to shit on the Indians there or had any ill will in writing their tweet in a different way.

Honestly, I think it has more to do with the Browns than the Indians. The Browns have been awful for so long, it's perceived as a miracle they're even in the Top 25 as far as Super Bowl odds go, let alone Top 5.

It also has to do with expectations, I think. The Browns are on their way up & nobody expected them to have the year they did or have the off-season they did. They're basically just starting their climb.

Meanwhile, the Indians' window of contention has been linked directly to Lindor leaving. And the assumption, based on these contracts this off-season, is he's as good as gone. Coming off of an underwhelming off-season, it's perceived that they're not going all in to take advantage of the little time they have left with him.

It's similar to how the Cavs got shit on for not putting the necessary talent around LeBron in his first tenure here.

I'm not saying it's right for people to perceive that or that anyone should be shitting on the Tribe, just saying why I think a lot of people are down on the Tribe right now.

Tbh, the Indians are the last team in this town people should be shitting on. And that's not even a slight on the Browns or Cavs, just due to the simple fact that the Tribe has been the most consistent franchise over the past ~6 years or so.

-Kluber to start Opening Day
-Goody optioned to AAA
-Thompson sent to minor league camp

Yeah it sucks

But it takes two to tango. Lindor turned down an extension in the $100m range before the 2017 season. That's a pretty good contract staring at 2 more years of $500k and then 3 years of arbitration. Alex Bregman took that deal from Houston.

Great organization, but the Dolan's could always go fuck themselves. There's no burning desire in them. It's strictly business. The Steve Ballmer's aren't everywhere, but that's somebody Cleveland deserves.

What about all the revenue from the all star game, and the home run derby, and all other events associated with it you will cash in on Paul?

Next couple off seasons are going to be rough,,Bauer first then Lindor. Makes it hard to get excited about the season when you know the stars will
be leaving soon.

Awesome timing for that inspirational sit-down with The Athletic too, Paul.

Just removed my scheduled PTO for Opening Day festivities.
