Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
FWIW, I'm not sure if the home opener will sell out today. Been trying to move four seats and will probably take a loss on them. Dolan's comments + bad offense + weather = yeesh.

The Opener sold out within 15 min of going on sale to the general public a month ago

Let me rephrase - there are going to be a lot of empty seats. Many of these games sell out because of inventory sold to StubHub. The ALDS last year was technically sold out and I saw sections with 75% empty seats.

Yes, there will be empty seats. The primary driver will be the weather.

Do you have a source for this?

He is pretty much right about the StubHub thing.

When teams claim sellouts in X number of minutes, its of the allotted tickets they have in their inventory. Not of the available tickets into the stadium.

I'm sure they'll report a sellout today, the cost of the empty seats will be split between the secondary providers like StubHub and the team.

Additionally, I learned a lot more about the All-Star game revenue, which is basically a 0 net sum game for the Indians, and is largely a boon to the surrounding economic area. The team won't be generating much, if any revenue from the weekend festivities.

MLB takes like 50 percent of their ticket inventory to all events, takes 100 percent of the revenues for any apparel or licensed merch sold during All-Star Week, etc.

Will be at the game later today, hoping I'm wrong but knowing that it will be a sub par atmosphere.

I was sitting in one of those sections. Why would I lie?

Also, it was colder last year and I sold four seats for $410. I'm currently asking $200 in the same section and cannot find a buyer to this point.

Maybe you're remembering that it looked really empty as the game was starting because so many people were waiting in line to get into the stadium. Below is from the Bottom 1st, people still filling in, and 2nd is from my seats an hour into the game.

If it wasnt so cold outside I would happily give you $25 for one of those :(

Dolan is doing some backtracking with Lindor now. You guys can stop the “enjoy him” line now.

That's fair. Dolan does seem like a genuinely nice guy, he probably didn't mean it the way it was quoted. It would have been unlike him to deliberately say something like that. Which is why it upset people, myself included.

Solid analysis.
Pitchers now know to not throw him fastballs. He has his power from his great bat speed. But he's not great at hitting changeups and breaking balls. Also teams will pitch him outside because he's not great at going opposite field. The last 2 and a half months of last season he was not very good. That's not a slump that's a trend. He has been exposed.

I mean...go read the actual quote. He didn't just say "enjoy him". He said "We control him for 3 more years. Enjoy him and then we'll see what happens". But the person who wrote the story conveniently left off that last part when advertising the story.

He said some stuff that was much dumber than "enjoy him" in that piece.

I’d like to get a Lindor jersey, but just can’t pull the trigger with him probably leaving.
