Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

For those who don't want to click:

*Indians engaged in several potential 3-way deals & they may hinge on being able to trade sluggers Edwin Encarnacion and Yonder Alonso. Yandy Diaz is involved in some of the deals as well.

*Trade talks continue involving Corey Kluber & Trevor Bauer. For the most part Kluber and Bauer have not been mentioned in the three-way deals as the Indians look to off-load salary by another avenue, while keeping their starting pitching.

*The most likely trading partners for Kluber or Bauer are the Yanks, Dodgers, Brewers, and Phillies. Indians have had conversations regarding Kluber & Bauer with almost every team needing starting pitching.

*The Tribe has also been linked with San Diego and outfielder/infielder Wil Myers. Like Santana, Myers is making a lot of money – he has four years left on a six-year $83 million deal – and the Indians would have to trade Encarnacion and Alonso to make that happen.

*The Padres have a rich farm system, featuring several big-league ready players. The Indians have talked to the Padres about a deal involving some of those players, but have made little headway.

*Has been little interest in Kip

I know I’ll get slammed for saying “It’s seems like we’re blowing up”, but it sure seems like we’re blowing it up.
Had our chance in 2016, and we blew it, literally. Time to rearrange the deck chairs and hope we get lucky this year or next, then the full rebuild goes into effect.

Just don't think it's remotely likely for the Indians to dump off expensive contracts and then turn around and pick up another expensive contract like Myers or Santana. Regardless of what you think about them, those are huge contracts.

The idea is to trade bad contract for bad contract but better fit, I think.

No one wants Kipnis???? Bullshit!

Imagine all the trade rumors popping up when it's time to dangle Lindor!

I still can't understand the Yankees as one of the teams we might trade Bauer/ Kluber to. If we are seriously still trying to win a WS they are one of the teams we would have to go through to get there. I will never understand the logic of trading him there. Eerily similar to the Cavs trading Kyrie to Boston IMO. You dont see Boston and the Yankees trading with each other. I think the Tribe brass are smart enough to know this but we shall see.

I can't think of a trade that would do more to alienate the fan base than that one.
