CLEVELAND -- The Indians' greatest team strength cast a bright light on their greatest weakness on Monday night.
Yes, the Tribe's bats have a flair for the dramatic. But if a middle reliever like Fernando Cabrera can't keep the club reasonably close, what good does it do?
That's the question that arose on a night in which the Indians nearly came back from a nine-run sixth inning strung together by the White Sox.
When the 11-10 loss to the Sox in front of 21,460 fans at Jacobs Field was complete, an irritated Indians manager Eric Wedge pointed to that weakness as an area of concern.
"It's imperative for us to stay close when we are behind," Wedge said. "Because it may not be this at-bat or this inning, but sooner or later we're going to give ourselves a chance to get back in the ballgame."
In surprising and dramatic fashion, that's what the Indians did in this game.
